PHOTO: Canada gets a dose of Bush-style freedom

A Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer walks past the newly installed barricades as he patrols Parliament Hill in Ottawa, November 28, 2004. Security has been beefed up in advance of a two-day visit by U.S. President George W. Bush.

2. Pretty pathetic, isn't it --
that the pResident of the United States is so hated everywhere that he can't even go to CANADA, of all places, without security befitting a visit to Baghdad? I hope the Canadians are out protesting in droves. Go, Canada! We love you!

3. Golly. What *accurate* and *factual* photography . . .
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 04:11 PM by TaleWgnDg
I didn't know that a lock and chain was larger than a church steeple, a police officer, and a r/l automobile. Nor did I know that a "barricade" was larger than a police officer and all of the above . . . golleeeeeee!

Don't get me wrong, now. It's a great art photo. But factual? No.

edited to add: here's the appropriate forum for your photograph (which is artsy non-news non-political), this new DU forum for art-as-photography and as a hobby: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=280x1

6. The perspective as it's inferred in the original posting is that . . .
as it's stated . . . which is a twist of reality as is the photo that's presented.

5. I take it you are alerting the mods to move this 'non-news' photo
Funny thing, though, it came from a news service.

9. I think the steeple and the police have always been there...what has
been added is the NEW way to lock up dissent...see why they exagerated the locks and chains?? if not..you are not of an artistic mind!

10. Thanks for the photo!
As a Canadian, I am not looking forward to the war criminal visiting here and I have NO doubt the baby bush insisted on stuff like that before he would step foot here. He really is the most hated man on earth and has earned that reputation ten-fold, imo.

12. You might want to get a bigger chain if you want to keep Bush out
He'll probably bring bombs with him.

13. The story here is that Bush won't address Parliament as other Presidents
before him have done on their first visit to Canada, following their election....(Of course, he is 4 years late...He chose NOT to follow the custom of Presidents making their first out of country visit, after election, to Canada. He went to Mexico.) He has slighted us in many petty ways since his election and now that he has to try to find friends in the big wide world, he's coming here.....

P.S.....He doesn't want to address Parliament because he is afraid of a less than enthusiastic response!....hahaha
