Lost Armor On The Peninsula

Hey, folks in Korea… Is this report accurate? Hack (teagles@hackworth.com)

Subject: Lost Armor On The Peninsula

Col. Hackworth,

Just spoke with a good friend last night stationed over in Korea. Turns out, as a driver of a Bradley, he no longer has a Bradley to train with. Along w/ the rest of his Battalion, their Bradley's were sent to Iraq. So now the units in Korea no longer have the armor and mech. vehicles they're suppose to have because they had to be moved to Iraq. The stories are getting better and better; Wow, are we leaving ourselves vulnerable or what? Another untold story about how well the war in Iraq is going.

about "regime change" in North Korea is based on the use of "unconventional" weapons, not "conventional" ones. But that definition may change of course.

I read somewhere that "tanks" were being moved from SK to Iraq, and with the media constantly confusing actual tanks, Bradleys, etc, who knows what was (or was to be) actually shipped.

At least Colonel Hackworth keeps pursuing a rational military policy (in his own way of course). Keep your hat on, Colonel, it looks to be a rough ride.

But I recommend that everybody should explore the site on a broader basis.

3. Some of our soldiers in Iraq are using AK-47's.
There is a shortage of assault rifles.

6. not really
Believe me there is no shortage of M-16's. The use of AK-47's can be attributed to it being a better weapon, and it also makes the soldier less of a target to snipers.

8. What they need is the Carbine assault version AR-15 derivative?
When I was in ROTC a lifetime ago we were told not to allow our soldiers to use AK-47's or weapons they were not trained on. That is a good way to get killed. The people telling us that were combat veterans who saw their soldiers killed using a weapon they were not familiar with. I don't know maybe they are trained to use the AK's today, the M-16 and variants can be temperamental when dirty.

I would hope our soldiers have what they need. I never had to go into combat, nor did I have to finish ROTC. I fire both weapons at shooting ranges regularly.

4. I feel sorry for the troops in SK...
the ones that are left, I've heard that alot of forces are either being pulled out or atleast moved further south, are just bait.

We are deliberately weakening our forces there so as to bait the North Koreans into attacking.

5. Hate to say, but a war in the Koreas
they probably expect will be fought from the air, and may go nuclear. I don't think anyone would plan for a ground war, against a million-strong North Korean army.

7. Some guy from the Quartermasters was sniffing aroung
my 130K mile/1998 Chevvy Blazer last week .... ya think its related?

I am so fucking pissed about this crap. We have NO resources left with which to defend ourselves if something REAl were to happen. In another thread was a story about freaking mall guards getting homeland security training. Our first responders are all in Iraq, we have no body aromor for the men and women serving, no vehicles for them to ride in, no nuttin .... all so Chimpus Khan can get his hard ons and wargasms playing shoot-em up.

I hope everyone responsible for this rots in hell.
