Don't know if this will help, but I sent the below to Col Hackworth regarding Rush on AFRTS. Hope someone will help get Rush' sorry ass off of Armed Forces Radio.
Dear Colonel Hackworth,
I am an active duty Naval Officer with 20 years of service. I began active duty as an E1 and subsequently earned a commission through the Navy's Limited Duty Officer program. I am writing in the hope that you could address an issue that has an insidious impact on morale and "good order and discipline". That problem is the broadcasting of Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. For a proud Democrat like myself, this is like being forced to listen to "Tokyo Rose" in a Japanese POW Camp.
Not only am I an active duty Naval Officer, but I am also a proud "bleeding heart liberal" Democrat. You and I may be on opposite ends of the political spectrum, but I know you love this country and care about issues that impact the military. I respect that you have the integrity to speak out about issues that most others would never touch.
Right now sir, somewhere in the world, Rush Limbaugh is telling my fellow servicemen and women that, "I am a terrorist sympathizer." He is telling my fellow shipmates that, "I hate God." He is telling my fellow shipmates that, "I hate the military." Right now sir, he is spitting in the face of every Democrat serving on active duty or in the reserves, and he is doing it with your tax dollars and mine. What, you may ask, has Rush so angry with me? It is simply that I am a proud Democrat.
You know as well as I do that if you visit the halls of Walter Reed, or the grounds of Arlington, you will find thousands of Americans of every political background. Bullets and shrapnel don't discriminate. You look into that proud Democrat's eye. The one who is missing an arm and a leg, and you tell him "he's a terrorist sympathizer"!
I am no hero. I am in a support billet, but I have dedicated the better part of my life to serving my country. If you remove his politics from the argument, you are left with an admitted serial drug abuser whose family and moral values are reflected in his three failed marriages. Remove his politics and you are left with a man who couldn't serve his country at a time of war because of a pimple on his ass. This is not the kind of man that should be spewing his slanted political dogma to our brave men and woman in uniform.
I've written to my two Senators, but since they are both Republicans, I get no response. It's not surprising though, since asking our current "one party" government to do something about Rush Limbaugh, is like asking Coca-Cola to give up free advertising. It just ain't gonna happen.
I thank you for your time sir, and I thank you for continuing to fight for our troops. We are all Americans, and we are all in this thing together, despite what Rush would have you believe.
