Buchanan: "[W]e [the South] wouldn't lose" the Civil War "the next time ou
http://mediamatters.org/items/200411290007

From the November 26 edition of MSNBC's Scarborough Country:

CURTIS SLIWA (president and founder of the controversial community activist organization Guardian Angels and conservative ABC Radio Networks talk show host): Pat, O'Neal is the hero, but the prosecutor will prosecute this case. They've done it in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey. They're blue states, Pat. Don't you understand?

BUCHANAN: Well, they did prosecute Bernie Goetz, but some guy just threatened him with a screwdriver and he shot four guys.

DE LACY DAVIS (a founder of Black Cops Against Police Brutality): Thank God that the South lost the war.

BUCHANAN: Well, we wouldn't lose it the next time out, De Lacy. Bush got all the red states and he won.

SLIWA: Oh, boy.

Guess what Pat - we WANT the south to cede. It's the Northern states paying all our taxes to keep you folks afloat.

2. Fuck Pat Buchanan!
Just because he's an idiot doesn't mean all of us are....

I can't imagine why anyone would say something so foolish about the Civil War. He misrepresents us....at least some of us. :-(

5. You mean Pat Buchanan's book, "The Death of the West"?
I read it, and I actually (choke..cough...umm) quite liked it. And I'm a hard-lefty Canadian: it wasn't supposed to be that way!!!

But I'm not sure if that's the book you're speaking of.

10. "Where the Right Went Wrong"? I think so...
But "The Death of the West" will have to stand as my token conservative read for a while...although the new one sound's intriguing.

9. Knowing then what we know now, the North wouldn't bother to fight
to keep the South in the Union.
