The scramble to control the worlds oil supply is raging. The big threat to our masters are the Chinese. Their economic expansion requires oil and they will fight for it.
Our government is controlled by corporations which only care about short term profit potential. They will sacrifice the planet for profit. Like the worst of parasites they will kill their host.
Israel is our strategic military foothold in the Middle East, hence our support for their heinous racist regime. Israeli spies at the highest levels of our government have been busy promoting American resource hegemony because it furthers their paranoid security concerns.
The likelihood of a nuclear showdown over resource control does not faze these Neocon wackos in the least. Corporate greed, in an unholy alliance with Zionist Nazis are fueling this race to Armageddon. We seem to not have evolved very far from our monkey ancestors. Instead of attacking with tooth and claw we are prepared to launch nuclear WMD at those who dare to challenge us.
This situation is complete madness.
One rational solution would be to make energy production a function of the UN. Every drop of oil could be tracked and priced according to its efficient use. This would drive research into more sustainable sources of energy. This would mean sharing the worlds resources fairly but apparently that concept is too far-fetched to bear serious consideration.

It may seem like we're currently in a "phony war" period, but it hasn't seemed that way in Fallujah, nor to the 100,000 Iraqis who are already its victims.

I sadly concur that world war is a real poss. They DESIRE it. Have for a very long time. Effectively unopposed, they will get it.

While it might have begun as political expediency, what we have seen rise up in front of our eyes is an alliance between ideologically driven wackos and the most cynical opportunists among us. They KNOW they are fucking things up -- but the way they are dealing with it is to hunker down all the more to avoid the trials and tribunals, etc. Soon we'll be looking back with nostalgia for when they merely distorted facts. Soon they will be in the business of creating "facts." This cross-fertilization has created a monster of historic proportions. Let me REPEAT: this cross-fertilization has created a destructive monster of histroic proportions. All the ingredients are there -- including the inability of decent people to face the facts of what has happned. Even the motherfuckers at the very top will find themselves astounded by the events they will bring down upon us...and have to lie all the more to escape the consequences. Bad. Worse. Maybe even worst.... I wish I could see SOME way their plan will succeed, but I cannot.

Regional war in the Middle East is a certainty. Iran will be blamed for the mess in Iraq, then Syria, etc. We are also being systematically "softened up" about what acts of terrorism "matter" -- a ruthless dictator can have no better enemy than one that has never been precisely described to begin with, and whose identity can "change" according to the ever-changing goals of this "war." Liberals as targets? How 80s! Democrats as targets? Zzzzzzzz. They are now targetting, as I predicted, sane Republicans. Bush is now DEMANDING the same loyalty the Republican Guard gave Saddam, that the Bolsheviks gave Stalin, that Nazis gave Hitler, that the Cultural Revolution gave Mao -- gotta love the irony. And they simply don't RECOGNIZE, or are capable of recognizing, where their movement has led our fragile republic to.... Bizarre. The most ruthless revolutions ALWAYS come in the guise of "restoring traditional values." And the most vicious wars are "liberating oppressed folk at their invitation.

Sorry, dear ones -- I am no ideological knee-jerk type. I would LOVE to say --
" ya know, this might work, even on some level" -- but I can find no such hope or logical play out of the consequences of their actions and policies. Everything I see unfolding leads me to believe that we are just at the beginning of time of disaster. Bin Laden? Yeah, he might have "started" this, according to the approved fiction, but in the end -- and it pains me to know this -- it will be Bush and his flying monkeys which will hurt more Americans more than murdering jihadists can ever hope for. It pains me to say that, but I know it is true....

It pains me to say that there is talk among our "allies", soul-searching about what they intend to do to stop the madness. Some still hold faith that Americans are still in the majority decent folk and will hold the bastards accountable and kick them out, but this faith is shaken after the elections -- its scary either way, if fraudulent OR if there are enough crazy Americans to elect this guy. Ha ha -- then again, let's not forget Hitler and Mussolini were elected too! -- in a similar time of reaction against secular18th c Enlightenment era ideas of true freedom and human dignity.

I saw this coming a quarter of a century ago . The only thing I got wrong was not anticipating the utter inability of the Democratic Party to effectively oppose it. Here we go again -- when good people do not take a stand against evil, well, you know the rest....

Our own civil war was never really resolved; it's being rewritten every day. The divisions between "Yankees and Rebels" are as bitter as they ever were, and very nearly as bitterly fought, and we seem to just be getting started in the Final Reconstruction.... At this time, folks, I have to say that the Confederacy HAS finally prevailed. There are times, now, that I despair that Abe didn't just let the ignorant hothead rednecks go, because now they are now destroying our nation as a whole.

There will be consequences unfolding that we can scarcely imagine.....

Very very very very interesting times.

Maybe the outcome of this global struggle will be a deal between the West and East in which the West controls the oil and the East controls production of consumer/industrial goods. It would be an uneasy alliance based on mutual destruction. Kind of like the bad old days of the US/Soviet stalemate.

You capture the bleak and uncertain outlook that many have felt since March 2003.

Think about Iraq and how we have perceived the war and post invasion effort to be bungled and inept...abu ghraib, shutting down the press, using Kurds against Fallujah, not rebuilding, letting Iraqi soldiers drift away with their weapons, failing to secure weapons dumps, installing a CIA guy as leader.

Then add the hands off approach to Israel for two years while things get real bad...same for N Korea.

They have stimulated opposition to the US at every opportunity. They have allowed the Iraqi mess to get worse by the day.

Following the PNAC playbook will cause us to confront those who challenge our interests and our superpower status...China, the EU, and Muslim countries in general will strenthen themselves against us. We may anticipate this and take steps to prevent it. We may withdraw from the UN.

We will be alone against an angry, powerful world.

This telling me that the developing Chinese industry is moving to protect a source of energy, and energy producing nations are moving into position to enforce their will on the U.S.
