Get your passports now!!
Leaving the USA? Not leaving the USA? Either way..please get your passports now! It will get more difficult to do in the future..and in 2005, id chips will be inserted in the passport. At present, a passport is good for 10 years..even if you never use it..at least you have that option to leave and go to another country..if the need arises.

11. your culture remembers..and for good reason!
It is such an easy thing to do now..to get that passport! I think the not getting one..everyone getting one..is that feeling that head in the sand is best policy..and that oh so needed belief..that "it could not happen here". Still, it is happening here! Sad to say!!

14. "At present, a passport is good for 10 years..."
That can easily be changed.

I'd say get one if you don't have one, but if you've got one that's not due to expire soon, you might be wasting your time trying to extend the life of a chipless passport.

If it really matters to them, they can just cancel all chipless passports and require them to be replaced.

16. addendum
and...if you are worried about the draft, all the more reason to get one now...it really will be impossible to get one after the draft is started.

18. just get a new one..now!!
encourage your children and grandchildren to get them now too! It may be what saves you and them in the coming years. If you do not need it...all the better for us all..but if you do need a passport in the future..and cannot get one...what then? Too late for you all! Ask a german who remembers!

20. Mine expired 10 years ago and I tossed it
Can I just go get another one as if I never had one, or am I better off telling them I tossed it because it was expired? I want to take care of this ASAP. Thanks in advance.

and little brother (who is 19) to get their photos taken today. :) They were planning on it since I am moving overseas next summer, but this just gave my mom the little push of urgency she needed. Thanks :)

23. Go to this website: http://travel.state.gov/passport/
http://travel.state.gov/passport/

It has all the information for getting or renewing a passport, and even tells you where your nearest passport office is.

Mine expired a few years ago and now I can't find it, so I have to start from scratch. For a new one, the cost is $85.00. Quite a bit for unemployed me. I understand the importance though. I never should have let mine lapse.
