Canadian Parliament Hill webcam (Protest site) DISABLED
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 03:26 PM by bvar22
UPDATE:I am PISSED.
Has the USCorpoMedia censorship metastasized to Canada? This camera has been disabled. I have been monitoring this webcam since this morning when the crowds were thin. Over the last hour (since noon) a large crowd could be observed gathering on the hill. Suddenly, the picture was replaced by the still shown here which was a pre-noon shot.

I checked the IndyMedia site which had also noticed the problem:

"The parliament hill webcam is a service operated "courtesy" of the Public Works and Government Services Canada. It claims to be update every 30 seconds, but as anyone who visits the site will find, the last capture took place some time ago (of placard-bearing protesters arriving on the Hill), and updated signals are no longer being transmitted.

Is there something our government is trying to hide? Perhaps we must call/fax the Public Works and notify them that something is wrong with the camera? Maybe it has been accidentally switched off?"

GODDAMN!! I wish I had gotten some screen captures!!!

On Edit: The following text was composed BEFORE the webcam was disabled and was to accompany a post for the active camera viewing.

This is the webcam on Parliament Hill where the anti-bush* protests are scheduled. I believe there is a plan to have a statue effigy of bush* pulled down by the crowd (ala the phoney Saddam Statue thing in Baghdad).

bush* has declined to actually address the Canadian Parliament, a long standing tradition among visiting dignitaries. When asked about this decision bush* replied, "I don't speak Canadian, and have been unable to find a translator." (OK. I made that part up.)

Earlier reports by the USA CorpoMedia are gleefully reporting that this protest has fizzled. I've been watching this webcam site up for a couple hours, and a large crowd is beginning to gather. I think that the US CorpoMedia's reports have been a little premature.

I found the link to the webcam on Ottawa Indymedia site, which will be carrying updates, still pics, and video.
