Yo! Plaid Adder, I hear ya!!! Today I switched from AAR Sirius 141
to Dance Sirius 62. I decided that I was going to take a break as well. I don't wanna be political anymore. I'm tired. Unlike you, I didn't think Kerry had a chance to win until 10/31, just a couple of days before the election. I was completely BLOWN away by the election. Not because I liked Kerry so much but because I HATED *. Monday I was cruising the www looking for anti-* stuff to stick on my ride then I realized. I have got to get over my HATE and CONTEMPT for *. Why? Because I don't want * on my mind. I don't want to continue to feel like I want to beat the living daylights out of every W04 and W The President lover on GA400 everyday. Hating * and those who worship him is exhausting. Being ANGRY and HATEFUL toward * is taking too much time in my day. I don't want that lil CRANK infested, chimpy-ass, lying, knuckle-dragging, fundie-using, ignorant pipsqueak messing up my drive to and from work.

Let me give you an example, over Thanksgiving I noticed that there is a FETN (Federal Emergency Television Network) channel broadcast on my moms local cable. That made me ANGRY. Then I noticed that they were advertising for dental implants on my local cable stations. I thought 'Oh shit, the red staters are trying to disguise themselves by having full grills of teeth.' It was at that point that I realized that I need to get outta this game.

So, I'll be hanging out in the lounge and in the non political forums. Maybe I'll start going to the gym, you know do something for me, because working for democracy didn't.

Now, don't get me wrong, if I see a call to arms. I'll respond. I will do my one liners now and then. Of course I'll read LBN, because that is the best place for news. But, other than that I'm on LOA.
:hippie:

1. I feel somewhat the same, although I only listen to AAR . . .
which is scarry because now I have tunneled myself off. I won't even watch CNN, or I used to watch some FOX to just get my blood boiling.

2. I have eliminated news all together, I listen to Animal Planet while
I get dressed in the AM. If there is a good movie on I'll listen to that.
I will leave my PC on till just before stick it in my bag to leave the house. So I get LBN on DU.

I don't care that I've walled myself off. I don't give a shit. Fuck everyone else who isn't Blue. That's how I feel.

3. Me too.....
I am on a LOA with the news and politics....I had so much anger after the election I could not believe it...I still do...but not as much as before mainly because I have stayed away from politics....i dont watch the news and will run away when someone starts talking politics....I want out (for now that is). Since I have checked out of politics and from watching cable news I am a much happier person....I am no longer angry at everything and everyone....yes, when I start to think that we have to put up with Bush another 4 miserable years I begin to get all upset and angry again....so I do more things like run and exercise, play sports, and read (non-political books)....I do everything to get politics off my mind....

4. The Adder is right on
as usual and I agree with Xultar. At the ripe old age of 69, I really need a break from the battle of politics. But I was born and bred on the politics of that other JFK, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. What would John do ?? I have to believe he would say..........."Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." So, I will find the energy and the will and battle on. I will stop weeping for the young, stop feeling sorry for the old, and stop wondering how my beloved country came to this abhorrent point in history. I will remind myself everyday and for as long as I have a breathe to do it, that This Is My Country, Dammit!! and it needs me.
