What is it with utility companies and their incompetence?
I moved to a new rental home on Nov. 1. Prior to that, I called Nevada Power (Las Vegas) TWICE to make sure they got the switch over. I have received final statements from the old place mailed to my new address which have all been paid.
So, I get a call from my landlady at 8AM this morning telling me that the electric wasn't switched over to my name on Nov. 1...she's still getting bills in her name. When I got to work, I called NP and got their lousy answering service, and while I'm on hold, my wife calls to tell me that a NP technician just showed up at the house to turn the power off! Luckily, she was home (the power box has exterior access - if she hadn't seen the guy, he could have shut it off and left) and stopped him. He gave her a number to call and she got everything switched over. The phone operator acted like it was no big deal - "that happens sometimes"!
WTF! It would have been great to have a freezer full of food with no electric because "that happens sometimes."
Arrrrgh!!
