2. No, I expect them to basically fully ignore don't ask, don't tell
So you are gay, we did not ask and we did not hear

Start your C.O File NOW

It is not a matter of if, but when

3. not in war time it wouldn't
Gulf War I is a perfect example. Only after it was over did they "act" on people who had outed themselves.

They would probably draft you first and send you to the front lines with a big pink target painted on your ass.

6. according to the current DA/DT policy, YES
we had to have classes on the policy when I was in the Army.

there were three things that could get you kicked out. Just being gay was not enough to actually do it.
1 - tell your commander you are gay
2 - publicly commit a homosexual act
3 - get married to another person of the same sex

so, you would have violated number 1, and the Army would have to release you.

10. Yes but this is the same army
that sent a NG unit to Afghanistan after half of them popped possitive on a piss test.

Slowly all those standards are being ignored.

7. No
They'll take gays in a draft, and then after the war, give them dishonorable discharges.

9. I have two children, 12 and 6...
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 04:15 PM by KansDem
I know they're years away from draft age, but, if this war in Iraq drags on like it did in Vietnam, they could very well find themselves in line for a ticket to the Middle East courtesy of Uncle Sam...

I, however, tend to politely write my Senators and Congressman, as well as the President, and explain that my children will not fight for Bush Family oil. I will further explain that I do not want them subjected to ridicule by the Republican Party upon their return from duty. I will cite McCain, Celland, and Kerry as examples of the GOP "Draft and Shaft" attitude.

I will reiterate that my children will not go to war for the Republican Party.....Period......End of discussion...

on edit: I know this post doesn't follow the initial thread subject, but I wanted to get this off my chest...
