How do you feel? Will you buy her products, watch the show?

14. The problem is
that her products are sold at KMart, which has 96% donation to repugs.

3. I don't care for her
but I don't think its right that she's in jail for small potatoes compared to those Enron crooks while they're out living life quite happily.

4. Is it true Martha smuggled some cinnamon and sugar in her bra
and was caught! I think I heard that from a comedian that swore up and down it was a true story! Wow! If true what guts! But hey you don't get to be a billionaire without guts!

By the way, I'll still by her products.

6. She's busy
The warden has set her the task of redecorating something in the prison and when she comes out she's got a book deal. Besides which, HGTV and FOOD offer great holiday programming this time of year.

Damn, if I went to jail the few people I know would disown me and I'd return to a cardboard box. I have nothing against her whatsoever but there's real suffering in the world.

(this is a friendly post, btw. sometimes it's hard to tell a flame from a slightly different opinion so I thought I'd say that so you won't...like, hit me)

10. My post was friendly as well. I'm just intrigued with the stories I'm
hearing about her from jail. It's interesting to see what people with strong character do in dire situations. It's too bad she's in jail but she seems to be making the best of it.

Another story I heard is that she picked crab apples off the prison grounds and made applesauce. (The guards supposedly looked the other way because there is a rule about not picking crab apples. Who knew?)

I also heard she is trying to be creative with a microwave and trying out new recipes using one.

Her resilience is pretty incredible if you ask me.

12. I agree.

I admire her for saying, 'take me now, I'm not waiting' because I'd have done the same.

I also read about the microwave experiments and thought at the time it'd be great if, instead of just a book about her experience she published one that will help people function in dorms, shelters and prisons. That'd be a good thing.

(thank you)

18. That's the thing with Martha!
She's not suffering! She's the type of person who sees joy and beauty everywhere, including prison...that's the key to her success.

19. Exactly,
and that's why I never worried about her, especially since she didn't get the big house.

Me? I'd still be in Surviving the Showers 101. If she comes out championing a cause related to the inmates she's served with she'll have an enormous audience and I hope she uses that to some good social purpose.

And, off-topic, I resent the amount of money they spent prosecuting HER when brokerage houses admit to churning and worse during that same period. Leona Helmsley, another unpopular strong female, was similarly ferociously prosecuted for something her male counterparts continue to get away with.

8. Before this, I never paid attention to Martha
I'm not the "domestic diva" type, but since all of this happened, I've been picking up her magazine for a peek. And suprise, I kinda like her style. I'm impressed with being self made, and her going to prision and getting it over with. Doubtful I'll by her stuff, but I do have a much better opinion of her than I did.

Funny how that works sometimes...

11. Yes and yes!
I will buy her products (if I like them) and watch her show, especially since I found out she's a Democrat and contributes to Democrats. (Buy Blue!)

But the main thing I'm waiting for is the book!! I can't wait to read about Martha's adventures in prison.

15. Martha ROCKS! And Martha was bamboozled! Can you . . .
imagine getting jailed for "lying" to the cops while they have you at the police station undergoing interrogation? or on the telephone? And, of course, once the cops "have you" on lying to them, then they criminally charge you w/ "conspiring" w/ another person to lie to them too.

HOLY CRAPOLA!

Mind you, now, the cops can lie and lie and lie and lie and lie. The District Attorney can lie and lie and lie and lie. But the target? Even if the "target" doesn't realize that s/he has been targeted for a criminal violation by the cops, s/he cannot "lie."

Nobody can "lie" to the cops or the District Attorney! No way! They'll rip out their paperwork and charge you with a criminal violation of law!

So goes Martha's dilemma. How stupid can it get? All this while GWBush walks after bilking many out of stocks and then lying to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)! And how about GWBush's brother, Neil? Another damn loser. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Bush

So, yes, I await Martha's return to civilian life and her case reversed on appeal(and w/ glee), period.

Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 04:53 PM by Zinfandel
because you were a big donor to the democratic party, this administration is pretending it's going after corporate crime...who did she hurt? Because she made thousands on some inside tip that you or I would have jumped on and thousands of others do daily?

Kenny "Boy" Lay stole billions of dollars and gutted pensions and ruined peoples lives, but he's a republican and will go completely free.

21. Bullshit. She could've saved eveyone a lot of misery,
and herself jailtime, by coming clean.

Don't forget that Sam Wacsal is doing hard time. And she sat on the NYSE. Her corrupt actions are indefensible.

The crime of Ken Lay, or anyone else, is a red herring. It doesn't cut any ice in this matter.

Still, I wanted her to be honorable in the face of it all so I could stand behind her, but her sour grapes and whinging are insufferable.

23. I buy her products at KMart sometimes
I can't afford anything from her catalog. I like her a lot more now than I used to but then I'm terrible at crafts and not the greatest cook so didn't pay much attention. My mom and my (born-again) sister love her. I used to really like when she would appear on Conan O'Brien and make fun of herself.

24. I like her
I have new respect for her for holding her head high. I heard somewhere that she is working on some sort of reality tv show. Also, a "jail" episode would be aweseome. I hope this experience has humbled her and changes her a bit. Im sure it will.
