The single TRUEST and funniest freeper comment I have read...
Trolling over there, as I do every so often, I found this little gem of a comment on a thread about Seinfeld. Actually, this was the very first comment - I laughed and immediately came here to share it. This is about the show itself:

To: qam1
I could never catch on to this show. Every freaking line goes right over my head, just like Rocky and Bullwinkle. I guess I was born out of phase.

5. Piaget's theory of cognitive development
I knew my psychology degree would come in handy some day. :P Piaget's stages of cognitive development explain a lot. Did you ever notice how some people don't understand sarcasm or satire? Some people just don't have the brain power to "get it."

http://mi.essortment.com/jeanpiagettheo_rnrn.htm

The formal operational stage begins in most people at age twelve and continues into adulthood. This stage produces a new kind of thinking that is abstract, formal, and logical. Thinking is no longer tied to events that can be observed. A child at this stage can think hypothetically and use logic to solve problems. It is thought that not all individuals reach this level of thinking. Most studies show only forty to sixty percent of American college students and adults fully achieve it.

17. I actually somewhat disagree with Piaget too

WAY back in the day when I was taking developmental psychology, my DD was age 5 or so. She was already able to do most of the more advanced cognitive tasks even though that is supposedly "impossible" for a preschooler. Assuming a fairly intelligent & motivated child, I think many of those "developmental stages" can be strongly affected by teaching & child rearing techniques.

People were constantly expressing surprise that I conversed with my very young children "like they're people" (Yes, I actually heard that exact phrase several times :eyes:) and allowed, actually insisted, that they made informed decisions in their own lives.

I also remember my DS's 3rd grade teacher commenting at a PT conference, on his "mature humor." At first I was horrified, thinking he was telling dirty jokes, but she said he was actually using subtle sarcasm. None of his peers understood his jokes, but he had all the teachers constantly cracking up.

18. yeah
he does not give enough thought to the ability of a child to develop faster or slower. while i think his stages are fairly good patterns of thought, he attaches them to a certain age, which, as you show, is inaccurate

Was that REALLY his screen name? Explains a lot.

Clearly, the 40-60% of adults who never reach full cognitixe development are the ones who vote for * (plus a few $$$ individuals and defense contractors) :
