I think the character assassination of Kofi Annan by the DLC is
reprehensible. Not only are they doing Bush's dirty work for him, they are taking aim at a man who has stood up for principle like the Geneva Convention on the treatment of prisoners and the UN Charter which Bush-Rumsfeld-Cheney have wilfully violated. If anything the DLC should be supporting Kofi Annan for insisting on the Rule of Law at a time when this administration has contemptuously disregarded them at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo.

BTW, it now transpires that our intrepid reporter of truth from the NYT, Judy Miller, is working on the Oil-For-Food Program so she can plant stories discrediting Kofi Annan. Her partner in crime, Bill Safire has already started the ball rolling with his specialty, character assassination without any evidence.

I find it incomprehensible that the DLC has not called for any investigation of the pretext for war on Iraq but can find the time to call for Kofi Annan's character assassination.

The DLC is a group of trojan horses in the Democratic Party. This cancer needs to be excised.

9. I'd have to see the DLC's argument and the objections one has to it...
...to make a judgement. I don't go by the rule of thumb that anything the DLC says is bad. It's a little bit more difficult to not have such a rule, but the Democratic Party is worth it to me.

5. Two Corporate parties
I don't disagree with everything about the old DLC, but this is pretty bad. I can't figure out what this move is supposed to get us, other than making it clear that Democrats don't like the UN either. Kind of hamstrings any future Democratic President, as they will be apparently expected to be anti UN as well.

10. Miller & Safire HAVE NO SHAME, and that USED to mean something
the fact that they still collect paychecks after all the glaring errors and lies blows my mind.

And the DLC? I hadn't heard the recent wrinkle, but good lord, it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I've been consciously avoiding the "Oil For Food" complete bullshit story because the unctuousness of the RWers manufactured outrage makes me physically ill.

15. If Kofi had supported the war they wouldn't care if he was corrupt or not.
I have no clue whether his is or is not. But if he had been for the war in Iraq this would not be an issue. Bush "won". It is "punishment" time.

19. The Repubs and the DLC need to get rid of Annan because:
The Duelfer Report was unequivacable(no argument possible; case closed)
that the UN Sanctions and Inspections implemented under Sec Gen of the UN Kofi Annan were 100% successful. Repeat:

The UN sanctions and Inspections implemented under Sec.Gen. Kofi Annan were 100% SUCCESSFUL in preventing Saddam from obtaining WMD or establishing programs to PRODUCE WMD.

The INVASION of Iraq WAS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY!!

The Duelfer Report was sidelined by the phoney elections of 2004, but this character assination targeting Kofi is necessary to bury the FACT that Kofi was RIGHT and bush* was WRONG!

Even Pakistan's dictator (and bush* friend) Mussarif slipped up this weekend on CNN and said the invasion was a mistake.

This is a TRUTH that we need get out. Anyone for a Media blitz?

Edited on Tue Dec-07-04 12:43 PM by KlatooBNikto
assassination of Kofi Annan? Where is Kerry in all of this? Why are they silent?

I am extremely mad at our party big wheels. If they don't come out in support of Kofi Annan, I am out of the party and joining the Greens.
They are becoming not merely spineless but downright amoral like the Repubs.May be Nader was right after all.

23. i've been saying it since 2000
that the democratic party and DLC has been infiltrated (probably longer than that)by GOP sympathisers doing dirty tricks, sandbagging our candidates, leaking inside info to the press and opposition, and developing insane policies...there really needs to be a housecleaning to find out who's who, because the traitor plants are only gaining stature and bigger positions on the inside..and their mission of destroying the party from the inside like a virus is moving on far better than expected

24. You are right. The DLC has one foot in the PNAC cabal, one foot in
the Democratic Party and God knows what organ in the Republican Party.I think their function is to entice our candidates with money and then demoralize them. They could not do this to Dean so they did everything to destroy his candidacy. I am just sick of them. They need to go for our Party to get back to its roots. You will then see our base energized like they did with Dean and the old Democratic Coalition of Liberal Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Jews and Asians can come together again and stand with our people. It is only then we will win elections and not by being a me too Republicans like the DLC wants us to be.

Let us get rid of them or they will certainly get rid of us, like they are trying to do to Michael Moore.
