The Bush 2003 SOTU, translated from LIES to TRUTH...
Edited on Fri Jul-11-03 09:06 PM by TruthIsAll
My Fellow Americans, as we gather tonight, our nation is despised, our economy is in shambles, and the civilized world faces unprecedented dangers from those who would attack others preemptively. The State of our Union has never been worse.

In the sixteen months since my experience at the Booker School, our nation has confounded the victims, questions abound about the 9/11 attacks on New York and the Pentagon, a great coalition opposes our imminent invasion of Iraq, bin-Laden remains free. We have rid the world of thousands of innocent civilians, we continue to retain and quarter our own people, and we attempt to remove Venezuela's democratically elected government.

The American flag is spat on throughout the world. Terrorists who once occupied Afghanistan are now returning. And terrorist leaders who urged followers to sacrifice their lives are preparing to strike at us if we invade Iraq.

Our decline is a tribute to the spirit of the right wing in our land, to the lack of resolve of our coalition of the willing, and to the might of the United States military, some of whom actually support me tonight. When our troops see action in Iraq, they will be subjected to salvaging those burning oil fields and Gulf War Syndrome.

For many Americans, these sixteen months have brought sorrow and pain that will never completely go away. Every day a retired firefighter returns to Ground Zero, to feel closer to his two sons who died there, I'm sure he wonders how it all happened.

Last month, at the grave of her husband, Kristen Breitweiser cursed me for not pursuing an investigation as to how her husband died in the WTC. I feel her pain, and I would only tell her why, but it is best not to reveal our agencies sources and methods, especially while we are at war. We must tell all those who have lost a loved one that our cause is just, and that our country will never forget the importance of gas required by those SUVs, for which you can now deduct up to $75,000.

Our cause is derided, and it continues. Saddam has confirmed our worst fears, and showed us the true scope of the task ahead. His duplicity is unequaled. U.N. observers continue to look for weapons. But they will never find them. I have the proof. Someday, I may show it to you, Hans Blix.

Some wonder about those 19 men who hijacked planes on September the 11. How come they were unaccounted for on the airline passenger lists and at least seven are still alive? Good questions.

Hundreds of foreigners have been arrested without legal representation. Yet, tens of thousands of trained terrorists are still at large. Yes, I suppose we will get them one by one if necessary, just like we will get Bin -Laden.

Our nation needs to be steadfast, patient and persistent in the pursuit of two great objectives. First, we will shut down free-speech zones, disrupt legitimate protesters and bring them to justice. And, second, we seek to preemptively attack those regimes which threaten the world.

Our military have supposedly put the terror training camps of Afghanistan out of business, yet for some reason, these camps are reappearing. They still exist in at least a dozen countries. A terrorist underworld -- including groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Jaish-i-Mohammed -- operates in remote jungles and deserts, and hides in the centers of large cities. They are waiting for an excuse to strike again. They will retaliate for our coming invasion of Iraq.

While the most visible military action is in Iraq, we are also acting elsewhere. Working with right-wing governments, we oppose the attempts of those in Venezuela to maintain their democracy. Our Navy is patrolling the coast to block the shipment of oil to that democracy.

Many nation-states are acting dangerously. Pakistan is developing and maintains nuclear weapons, so why is there no outrage? Because they are our friends. Our enemy North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction; so they can't have them.

Iraq is hostile toward America and supports terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade, using the weapons Poppy, Rumsfeld and Cheney supplied them. But they are now gone. Destroyed. They are no threat. And it was Iran which used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens. I have asked Ashcroft to provide proof that Saddam is behind the Anthrax attacks on Leahy and Daschle. That is just a show for my media friends.

In the Gulf War, we lied when we said the Republican Guard kicked babies out of incubators, leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections, but we will have none of that. We know this regime that has something to hide from the civilized world. And yet we will not allow the UN to locate these Weapons of Mass Destruction.

States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They hate us because they hate us. OK. But is preemptive war the only answer?

We should work closely with the U.N. But we must develop and deploy unproven missile defenses to protect America and our allies from sudden attack, especially from that evil North Korea, which is signing peace agreements with the South. We will build those Star War missiles, anyway. Korea is endangering our nation's security.

I believe that a biblical prophecy foretold my rise to power. I must be bellicose, for time is not on our side. My ratings are falling very fast right now. I will not wait on events, while I am above 50 percent in the polls. I will not stand by, as these ratings fall lower and lower as Democratics line up to run against me.

Political campaigns may end on my watch -- especially as those Diebold and ESS voting computers are installed throughout the nation. If I were to stop now -- leaving opponents to threaten my leadership and to keep our constitution intact -- our sense of royalty would be false and temporary. History has called us to action, and it is our responsibility to bring an end to our democracy.

My budget must meet the goals of winning an unending war; protecting our homeland and reviving our economy. I would give even greater tax cuts to those who need them the least.

Initially, September the 11th brought out the best in America. I was lucky enough to hit the Trifecta. I am taking advantage of this God-given opportunity. Now Americans deserve to have this same spirit directed toward addressing problems we face at home.

It costs a lot to fight this war, more than $200 billion. This will increase greatly as we must be prepared for future operations. These operations also mean further profits for those in the military industrial establishment. Our great middle class cannot afford to pay for it. But who profits? The Carlyle Group. Halliburton. Bechtel. The usual suspects.

My budget includes the largest increase in defense spending in two decades -- because while the price of freedom and security is high, the profits paid to my friends and Poppy is never too high. Whatever it costs to defend our country, we will pay to fund his and their retirement.

The next priority is to do everything possible to protect our citizens from the ongoing threat of another attack. Time and distance from the events of September the 11th will not make us safer unless we act on the lesson we should have learned at the Booker School: America is no longer protected by vast ponds. We are protected from attack only by vigorous action abroad, and increased vigilance at home. No more LIHOPs!

This will mean bigger deficits, since I will be is cutting taxes. We will develop vaccines to fight anthrax and other deadly diseases. Our biochemical corporate friends will love this. But what about funding to help states and communities train and equip our heroic police and firefighters? We will improve intelligence collection and sharing. Hopefully, I will never again need to instruct the FBI layoff the Bin laden/Saudi connection.

We will expand patrols at our borders, except for those Mexican wetbacks who vote for me. I will strengthen the security of air travel, for those few airlines still in business. We are still waiting. We will use technology to track the arrivals and departures of visitors to the United States, except for those terrorists coming to this country who were accepted at our famous Pilot training schools.

Stronger police and fire departments will mean safer neighborhoods, but the availability of more Uzis on the street won't. Strict border enforcement will help combat illegal drugs, but these just provide money to our Drug-enforcers. I will never allow legalization of drugs to end these government programs. And as government works to better secure our homeland, America will continue to depend on the eyes and ears of alert citizens. Watching those crop-dusters is no solution!

After we have funded our national security and our homeland security, the next priority must be economic security for the American elite. To achieve these great national objectives -- to win the war, protect the homeland, and further enrich the wealthy-- our budget will run a deficit that will be as large as necessary. As long as I can get away with it, a pliant Congress must restrain spending and act in a fiscally responsible manner, by cutting programs for the sick and elderly. Our clear priority to soak the middle class. We will act with the same purpose as we did in winning this selection.

Americans who have lost their jobs need our help but we fought extending unemployment benefits and direct assistance for health care coverage. Only Democrats in congress forced me to extend benefits. American workers want more than unemployment checks -- they want a steady paycheck. Well, they'll just have to wait until the trickle-down theory takes hold and businesses start to hire. It could be a very long wait. When America works, CEOs prosper. My economic security plan can be summed up in one word: Greed.

There is more to do. We need to improve Head Start and early childhood development programs. Is our children learning yet? Well, not enough. We must fight for teacher training in Christian fundamentalism and The Ten Commandments in every schoolroom. We will succeed with our great goal for America: the dumbing-down of every classroom.

Good jobs also depend on reliable and affordable energy. This Congress must act to encourage conservation, promote technology, build infrastructure, and it must act to increase energy production at home so America is less dependent on foreign oil.

Good jobs depend on expanded trade. Selling into new markets creates new jobs, so I asked Congress to finally approve trade promotion authority. The fall of the dollar against the Euro currency is an indication of how this policy is working. On these two key issues, trade and energy, the House of Representatives has acted to create jobs for cheap foreign workers, and I urge the Senate to pass this legislation.

Good jobs depend on sound tax policy. Last year, some in this hall thought my tax relief plan was too small; some thought it was too big. Well, now we know it was too big. But when the checks arrived in the mail, most Americans thought tax relief was just about right, even though it was really just a loan. But we sure fooled them. Congress listened to the wealthy and responded by reducing tax rates, doubling the child credit, and ending the death tax. For the sake of the wealthiest among us, and to help these Americans plan for additional conspicuous consumption, I will seek to make these tax cuts permanent.

The way out of this depression, the way to create jobs, is to grow the economy. My budget would encourage investment in factories and equipment, and speed up tax relief so people have more money to spend. For the sake of the rich, let's kill the stimulus package. Dividends that the average American receives are miniscule. This removal of double taxation on dividends is a windfall for the rich, so let's enact deduction this for them.

Americans know economic security can vanish in an instant without health security. I ask Congress to join me this year to enact a patients' bill of rights -- (wink) -- to give uninsured workers credits to help buy health coverage --- to approve an historic increase in the spending for veterans' health -- (I mean it this time) -- and to give seniors a sound and modern Medicare system that includes coverage for prescription drugs.

A good job should lead to security in retirement. I shall ask Congress to enact new safeguards for 401K and pension plans. (Kenny, that one's for you.) Employees who have worked hard and saved all their lives should not have to risk losing everything if their company fails, even when the CEO of that company is a good friend of mine. Through stricter accounting standards and tougher disclosure requirements, corporate America must be made more accountable to employees and shareholders and held to the highest standards of conduct. So let us Harken to the energy of this commitment.

Retirement security also depends upon keeping the commitments of Social Security, and we will. We must make Social Security financially stable and allow personal retirement accounts for younger workers who choose them. And for those of you who don't, we will make sure your check will be used for our missile defense.

Members of congress, you and I will work together in the months ahead on other issues: productive farm policy -- a cleaner environment -- (cough) -- broader home ownership, especially among minorities -- (thanks, Trent) -- and ways to encourage the good work of charities and faith-based groups. (Thanks, Jerry.) I ask you to join me on these important domestic issues in the same spirit of cooperation we've applied to our war against terrorism.

During these last few months, I've been humbled and privileged to see the true character of this country in a time of misinformation by the liberal media. Our enemies believed America was weak and materialistic (despite our 20,000 nukular weapons), that we would splinter in fear and selfishness. They were as wrong as they are evil. They hate us for our free elections.

The American people have responded magnificently, with courage and compassion, strength and resolve. They have watched my usurpation of leadership right after 9/11. I have met the heroes, hugged the families, and looked into the tired faces of rescuers, I have stood in awe of the American people. It's amazing how Rove can manipulate you.

And I hope you will join me --I hope you will join me in expressing thanks to one American for the strength and calm and comfort she brings to our nation in crisis, our First Lady, Laura Bush.

None of us would ever wish the evil that was done on September the 11th. That Trifecta must never happen again. So keep my poll numbers up, America! After America was attacked, it was as if our entire country looked into a mirror and saw Dorian Gray. We were reminded that we are sheeple, with obligations to labor for the New World Order. We began to think less of the goods we can accumulate, since we now have everything, and more about the power we can accumulate.

For too long our culture has said, "If it feels good, do it." Now America is embracing a new ethic and a new creed: "Let's troll." In the sacrifice of soldiers, the fierce brotherhood of firefighters, and the bravery and generosity of ordinary citizens, we have glimpsed what a new culture of irresponsibility could look like. We want to be a nation that serves it's own goals. We've been offered a unique opportunity (thank goodness for 9/11), and we must not let this moment pass.

My call tonight is for every American to commit at least two years -- 4,000 hours over the rest of your lifetime -- to the service of your neighbors and your nation by waiving our flag in front if your homes. Many are already doing this, and I thank you. If you aren't sure where to get a flag, I've got a good place to start. Just ask your neighbor where she got hers. To sustain and extend the best that has emerged in America, I invite you to join the new USA Freedom from Democracy Corps. The Corps will focus on three areas of need: responding in case of crisis (civil war) at home; building underground government facilities; and extending American hegemony throughout the world.

One purpose of the USA Freedom Corps will be homeland security. America needs retired doctors and nurses who can be mobilized in major emergencies; volunteers to help police and fire departments; transportation and utility workers who are trained in spotting danger. Those of you who cannot afford to volunteer can just watch.

Our country needs citizens working to rebuild our communities, which are in danger from 8 years of Clinton's surpluses. We need mentors to love children, to take the place of the proliferation of pedophiles in our midst, especially children whose parents are in prison ("don't kill me, please don't kill me"). And we need more talented teachers in troubled schools. USA Freedom Corps will expand and improve the good efforts of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps to recruit more than 200,000 new volunteers, who will also serve to look for any terrorist activity at the same time.

And America needs citizens to extend the big business interests of our country to every part of the world. Join the CIA. And we will renew the promise of the Peace Corps .I am more committed than JFK was. I will double volunteers over the next five years and ask it to join a new effort to encourage development and education and opportunity in the Islamic world, while continuing to staff Camp X-ray.

This time of adversity offers a unique moment of opportunity; this TriFecta moment must be seized to change our culture. Through the gathering momentum of millions of acts of service and decency and kindness, I know we can overcome evil with greater good. And we have a great opportunity during this time of war to lead the world toward the values that will bring lasting peace, especially unilateral regime change.

All fathers and mothers, in all societies, want their children to be educated, and live free from poverty and violence. Thanks to my dad, I had the good fortune of going to the best American schools. No people on Earth yearn to be oppressed, or aspire to servitude, or eagerly await the midnight knock of the secret police, although Ashcroft would argue with this.

If anyone doubts this, let them look to Iraq, where the missing WMD are ready to be used against our invading freedom -fighters. The fall of tyranny will be greeted with a million deaths, but those who survive will celebrate with song and celebration. Let the skeptics look to our own rich history, with its centuries of learning, and tolerance and progress, especially the way we treated our native -Americans. America will lead by defending liberty and justice because they are right and true and unchanging for all people everywhere. None of us will be brought before the World Tribunal.

No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture, just our businesses. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity: the rule of law (the Patriot Act); limits on the power of the state (the Constitution) ; respect for women (we will do away with abortion); private property (foreclosed); free speech (except in the media); equal justice (The Patriot act); and religious tolerance (vouchers)

America will take the side of brave men and women who advocate these values around the world, including the world of oil producers, because we have a greater objective than eliminating threats and containing resentment. We seek a just, peaceful, oil - producing world beyond the war on terror.

In this moment of opportunity, a common danger is erasing old rivalries. America is working with Russia and China and India, in ways we have never before, to achieve peace and prosperity (it's more profits for us). In every region, free markets and free trade and free societies are proving their power to lift lives (cheap labor). Together with friends and allies from Europe to Asia, and Africa to Latin America, we will demonstrate that the forces of terror cannot stop the momentum of fascism.

The last time I spoke here I expressed the hope that life would return to normal and that our elections would be fair. In some ways, it has. In others, it never will. Those of us who have lived through these challenging times have been changed by them (especially those unemployed or disenfranchised). We've come to know how lies can brainwash those who will never question: if we are evil it is because this is a New World Order. Beyond all differences of race or creed, we are one monarchy, rejoicing together in the mutual terror and danger we face together. Deep in our character, there is honor among thieves, and it is stronger than cynicism. And many have discovered again that even in tragedy -- especially in tragedy -- the prophecy is near.

In a single instant, we realized that this will be a decisive decade in the history of liberty, and that we've been called to a unique role in tragic human events. Rarely has the world faced a choice more clear or consequential. We must rid the world of mad, power-hungry democratically elected dictators.

Our enemies send other people's children on missions of suicide and murder. They let it happen on purpose. They embrace chaos and death as a cause to maintain fear and power. We stand for less choice then on the day of our founding. We affirm it again today. We choose a monarchy and control of every life.

Steadfast in our purpose, we now press on. We have known the price of freedom. There must be limits to freedom. A dictatorship would be better, as long as I am the dictator. And in this great conflict, my fellow Americans, we will realize our ultimate victory - the emergence of a fascist America.

Thank you all. May God continue to bless me.
