It really pissed me off.
Subject: Go Jim

ABC TV - A MUST READ

If more of us took a stand maybe we could have some decent TV programs

-- Jim Neugent is a coach in Childress, Texas.

Jim writes:

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called "THE PRACTICE." In last week's episode, one of the lawyer's mothers

decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a

marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.' I sent the following

letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get

one.

My original message was:

ABC is obsessed (or should I say abscessed) with the subject of

homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the

world that homosexuality is OK. THE PRACTICE can be a fairly good show,

but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus'

of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being

gay and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. This type of

mentality calls people like me a "gay basher." Read the first chapter of

Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say

about it.... He, God and Jesus were all 'gaybashers'. What if she'd fallen in

love with her cocker spaniel? Is that an alternative lifestyle? (By the way,

the Bible speaks against that, too --Jim Neugent

Here is ABC's reply from the ABC on-line webmaster:

How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of

stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it

says "All Men are Created equal," and try treating them that way for a change!

Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in minority in this

country and your boycott will not affect us or our freedom of statement..

Jim Neugent's second response to ABC:

Thanks for your reply. From your harsh reply, evidently I hit a nerve. I

will share it with all with whom I come in contact. Hopefully, the Arkansas

Democrat Newspaper will include it in one of their columns and I will be praying for you.

- -Jim Neugent

Note: Wouldn't Satan just love it if people stopped using the Bible

for a crutch? Please resend this to everyone in your mailbox.

-- Thanks, Jim Neugent

I wonder if the person from ABC considered how many people would read this e-mail! This is one we should definitely pass on.

I drafted this:
Dear
My best friend just found out that her sweet loving 17 year old boy is gay. She was shattered and cried lakes of tears, even though she had always been very open minded about people living their own lives and being left alone unless they personally hurt other people.
Its hard for people to realise this, because most have tunnel vision when it comes to this subject. The boy has never had sex. Its not a deviant thing. He is simply not attracted to girls. There is no cure, he can't change his desires. Its nature, not nurture, as he has never been exposed to gays or the lifestyle. Maybe one day doctors will find that something in the brain can be turned on or off to change this in people, until then his mother and I, and most thinking, intelligent people who bother to really analyze it, understand that this is God made, God sent, God intended. I wish that people wouldn't place their own narrow minded views and blame them on God.
As for this
" What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel?"
That is just stupid, and we believed it was asinine when Rick Santorum said it (or worse). When 10 % of the population (Yes that is the number who is gay) begins wanting to marry animals, I will consider that possibility. Until then, anyone who repeats that garbage is very mentally deficient
Is it too strong? I have no idea why I got this from him. He did not send it to the entire office. He should have no reason to think I am a freeper.

1. I resent their borrowing of the phrase "thinking, intelligent people"
to describe someone who is so radically unthoughtful.

Seems fake. If not, I would have written the Moran the same thing.

4. No no, that is from my response. And I want to say that both my
husband and I don't believe that ABC would respond in that way. It doesn't sound like the normal canned response, which is why I am thinking its a fake email being passed around by patsys.

2. its fake
Freeper attempt to play victim yet again. "oh look they want to ban god!" I wish someone would have the guts to tell them their world is based on a huge lie made up by perverts and crooks. Maybe then they would actually get in touch with some sort of spirituality.

3. apparently its for real
went to snopes to get the debunk for you and found this:

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/practice.htm

Claim: A viewer received an insulting response after sending a complaint to ABC's web site about the TV program 'The Practice.'

Status: True.

Origins: Why this one has reared its ugly head again, a full year after the fact, is beyond our ken. Yes, it's essentially true, but it all took place back in April of 1999, when an Arkansas viewer by the name of Jim Neugent decided to lodge a complaint through an e-mail link on ABC's web site. Mr. Neugent was disgruntled with the 4 April 1999 episode of the ABC TV program 'The Practice'

5. Thank you so much. I replied to everyone in the email, inserted the
important parts, and wrote:

I thought this sounded odd, like so many of these emails floating around. I hope this makes everyone think twice about blindly forwarding all the emails floating around cyberspace all the time. This was not only from 4/4/99, but the response also didn't come from ABC.
