I wish the quality was better, they're all 2nd generation, photos of snapshots held in front of the camera.

It's so disgusting that this is what our country is doing.

So many of these people were shot in their BEDS.

In their beds.

Shot in their fucking beds.

it's considered "not nice" or "not patriotic" or "not supporting the troops" or "not getting over it" whenever I tell people this stuff is going on, they say, they don't want to think about it anymore. Everyone is just turning their backs, defeated. Our troops are in hell, committing MASS MURDERS. Then, we will have to hire more cops when they come home, because they will be so crazy from the war some of them will go around acting like Charles Manson.

I'm not saying that the insurgents aren't killing anyone. I am saying that U.S. forces are doing the majority of the killing in Iraq. When you have widespread attacks on areas, you are going to kill innocent civilians, period. It's not the soldiers who are evil, it's the military infrastructure that gives them their orders. They are just doing what they are told. Sadly what they are being told is evil and wrong. I'm not like Mayor Guliani or any other Republicans. I don't blame our troops. I'm a real American. My heart goes out for them. I blame the Bush administration and the military officials they have let loose on Iraq.

Those people slept in those beds for years.
Fact B:
No one shot them in all those years.
Fact C:
American troops invade their city to "free them"
from the evil insurgents, who by the way, did not
shoot them in their beds BEFORE the troops invaded.
Fact D:
No one was shot in their beds before the troops came.

What is your conclusion?

Ive seen so many of these pictures that it just doesnt register anymore. I hate myself for being able to look at a picture of a dieing Iraqi child without crying... but thats what its come too.

there is no credible evidence as to who did these deeds. Speculation is almost always more damaging than the facts that emrge from such horrors.

One thing is for sure, these people met a fate that they did not deserve. War is horrible, and executions are worse.

Who is responsible, and the facts surrounding these events, need to be amassed and assessed before any blame can be attributed. I encourage everyone to keep speculation at a minimum. I see no evidence in these pictures of US involvement. In fact, I could not tell you where or when these pictures were taken. What I do know, is that the person(s) on this side of the viewfinder, knows more than any of us...and they are as capable of lying as they are of telling the truth.

I mention this strictly as a concerned member of DU.

I think it is criminal in any case that these people suffered this fate, but as in any case like this, I need facts in order to make a judgement call. No one can tell me that American soldiers did this, without proof. It is as simple as that. I am not ruling it out, I just want proof, and not speculation.

Nazi's did it, Russians did it, The Chinese did it, the Japanese did it, and yes, we've done it. It is not a question of whom is at war with whom, it is a question of getting to the truth w/o paranoid speculation. I am a combat vet, I know how things work, and I am not willing to accept that we shoot people in their beds because it suits us. I am against this war, but I refuse to accept speculation as fact, to do that, is pretty darn foolish IMO.

But the term "speculation as fact" pretty much sums up GD.

There are not one, but two hot threads going on in the lounge about people being afraid to post in GD because of extremist animosity. And this entire topic illustrates it perfectly.

Is that like telling someone they had better not dare make a peep about torture against Iraqis unless there's ironclad proof? Even when there are pictures of said torture. Is that kind of animosity that you're griping against?

Unbelievably heartbreaking.

And so many people are blissfully, willfully unaware of what, truly, war means. After all, no one got eaten by dogs in a John Wayne movie, did they?

Are we doomed to re-inact versions of this for the rest of human existence? Our recorded history is mainly who fought who, who "won", and on and f*cking on...
