Dimebag Darrell and the looming moral crusade.

Former Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was killed Wednesday night when some psycho jumped on stage at a concert and shot him in the head as he was playing. Now this isn't about fawning over some headbanger's legacy (though I was a big Pantera fan in high school), but what this means for heavy metal and the music world as well.

Pretty soon we're probably gonna start hearing the usual crop of self-appointed moralists trying to exploit this man's murder for their own ends. The same way they all hopped on Judas Priest or Ozzy when those kids killed themselves, or Marilyn Manson after Columbine. And they're gonna be screming a whole lot louder now that they think they have a mandate. Who knows what they'll try and do this time.

This doesn't look good, that's all I'm saying.

I can't believe that somebody jumped on stage and killed a musician. That is the worst thing I have ever heard of. I just have to wonder how the guy even got in and what made him do it. Besides, where were the bouncers?

no great fan of pantera here, but that story was still shocking to me.

but i'm sure the fundies will try to exploit it. :grr:
