BEWARE email scams from Hallmark...so it seems

I just received in my spam folder what appeared to be a legitimate e-card from Hallmark. I opened the email and went to the address provided. It looked real, but I viewed it with skepticism and asked my husband about it. Adviced not to open which I had already decided not to do. Also didn't know the sender...Angie with a number after the name. The site wanted your IP "screen name" and IP "password".


I looked at the real Hallmark site. It has a page almost identical in which is asks for email address and password. Big difference than above request.

I reported it to spam@uce.gov

I had just read this week an article in Reader's Digest about email scams like this (phishing) and the havoc they are causing people by stealing their online info. Glad I read it and glad I'm a skeptical old LIBERAL!

Hope this helps some others avoid opening ecards that are scams. :dem:
