The cynical politics of influenza, Bush style.
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 11:05 AM by Cuban_Liberal
I often wonder just how cynical the bastards in the Bush administration can be, and then some new outrage happens:

Earlier this year, when faced with a shortage of flu vaccine, my blue-state Gov. Rod Blagoevich (D) ordered the Illinois Department of Public Health to locate enough vaccine for all of Illinois' 'at risk' citizens, as well as for it's seniors, small children, immuno-compromised people, etc., and the IDPH did so-- from a French pharmaceutical company (some 2.5 million doses). IL applied to the FDA for an exemption/waiver for this vaccine, yet the application is still 'pending'. Tommy Thompson, however, in a big, showy, made-for-TV presentation, locates some vaccine in Germany, and it's going to GET an exemption 'stat'.

Tell me they're not playing politics with this thing.

:wtf:

2. Of course they are playing politics.
When people die, I'm sure they will find a way to blame it on Clinton.

I get a flu shot every year, but this year I have chosen not to, even though my insurance would pay for it and our health-plan has vaccine available. I'm young and healthy, and I'll quite likely survive the flu, but there are millions of people in my state who might not, and that bunch of assholes in Washington is deliberately putting their lives at risk.

Have they NO shame?

5. I'm assuming that your question is rhetorical? No?
They have proven themselves to be remarkably devoid of shame.
