Let's help Rummy with things well understood

During Rummy's now notorious talk with the soldiers in Kuwait, when Staff Sergeant Latazinsky asked Rumsfeld how long she and her husband will have to serve under the Stop Loss program, he didn't answer the question but instead started rambling about Stop Loss and how well understood a principle it was:

"(...) It’s all well understood when someone volunteers to join the service. (...) It’s basically a sound principle. It’s nothing new. It’s been well understood. (...)"

If Rummy can appreciate so much a thing well understood, I'm sure we can point out to him a few other things that are well understood.

Like: "Rummy, it's well understood that hubris comes before the fall."

Any other ideas?

On good authority, I'm told that is well understood.
