I would like to hear from all DU'ers.
What is the Refundican platform? What did they run on? How did they articulate their agenda?

It may seem nonsense to some, but I have been thinking on the election (Kerry is soft, flip-flopper, no goals, no agenda, etc,) and I began to wonder...What did the Refundicans run on?

1. Platform? "We hate muslims and gays and other weirdos."
What did they run on: "Look out! Muslims, gays, and other weirdos are coming to kill you and rape your son!"

How did they articulate their agenda? "War on Terrorism. Defense of Marriage. Let's Kill the Bastards."

2. A manure lagoon from a CAFO
Seriously? Nothing. That's why we heard nothing about it except for that blasted anti-gay marriage wedge thing all over the country. There was no platform. The media annointed them.

they can only run against because they have no moral values except other than to win.

10. remember their convention? It was nothing but hate and fear
It was disgusting.

And the media gave them a pass.

It was THE most negative convention I've ever seen in my 42 years

14. Pataki scares me. How did he get elected in NY?
I watched the replay of the RNC and saw Zel's spittle flecked rampage. I also saw Pataki shine with a freaky zealot-like fervor. It was disturbing.

15. BUT THEY DIDN"T HAVE 911
NEW YORK DID! Liberal new york city, the city that had terrorism voted against bush and cheneys fearmongering. They got people to joing their cult by fear, just like the evangelists and ultra-jesus people do. Fear can snap the wisdom and reason of the weak.

5. No gay marriage
No bosoms exposed at during Super Bowl halftimes. No abortions.

Oh--and Bush is a man of faith. Pretty much covers it, as I saw it.

6. Two things
1. You say something like "Jesus was my favorite or most influential person".

2. You say "I am opposed to abortion" and make politically safe moves against it such as witholding funding for planned parenthood.

8. Not their record!
They ran on spin and smear. My area went red and I really listened to what people said about politics. I heard the following from Bush voters:

1. Swift Boat Vets

2. Kerry's a Flip Flopper

3. Bush is moral/religious/Christian

4. Don't want to change presidents in the middle of a war

5. Bush has made safer (by what leap of imagination I do not know)

6. I don't like Bush but (insert one of the above)

My blue friends and I were completly frustrated and puzzled that people didn't seem to have a clue.

9. Repukes ran on Cheney's
fearmongering which was basically, "Vote for Kerry and die."

People I know who are repukes aren't fundies. They aren't religious in the least. They voted chimp because of the fear factor. No other reason.

13. well...
they divided the country with wedge issues, they used their "grassroots" to get church's and activists to get people out to vote. Their platform was fighting terrorism/national security, uhm...supposed conservative or republican values(which was aided by the blurring of values in general, the demonization of liberals, and the wedge issues, framing of words, among other things). We haven't been framing things very well for a long time. Most of the supposed republican platform is a farce considering how they really act. He also basically didn't really articulate any of those things himself unless he had too.

17. What I heard the most
was about the "war on terror". I talked to people who were convinced that the big, bad Muslims were going to come and get them and Bush would fight them over there so they wouldn't come here. Remember the ad with the wolves?

The ran on "(Kerry is soft, flip-flopper, no goals, no agenda, etc,)". Toss in a little homophobia and racism for the complete package.

(oh - I left out - Kerry was a hippie peacenik from the 60's who didn't "support our troops")
