Let them try and remove these!! What are these people thinking?? At what point do we say, enough is enough? Please pass this on to as many people possible as quickly as you can even if you normally don't do this type of thing. Some messages just need to be forwarded and this is most certainly one of them. 2. The right wing nuts are the ones going after the constitution.
The patriot act is the attack on our civil liberties. Thank GOD the ACLU is fighting to protect us from the NeoCons Thugs.

enjoy public land set aside for such enjoyment? Working a graveyard carries with it acceptance of working around religious sysmbols.

By the way - those are not all crosses.

Fellow should visit a Federal/Military graveyard and note that a number of non-Christian folks are also laid to rest there.

The ACLU threaten lawsuit was at the request of a Catholic worker on that Federal land who felt ir demeaned his religion - interesting?

National Park Service agrees to remove cross from federal land

Web posted at: 4:29 AM EST (0929 GMT)

SANTA ANA, California (AP) -- The National Park Service announced Tuesday that it had agreed under threat of a lawsuit to remove an 8-foot iron cross used for Easter gatherings and as a World War I memorial in Mojave National Preserve.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California threatened to sue the park service if it did not voluntarily take down the cross, which stands in the desert about 85 miles northeast of Barstow.

"It's a cross on federal property. The case law is pretty clear. We had no choice," said preserve superintendent Mary Martin.

Martin said the cross would be removed within the next few weeks. A specific date was not set. The ACLU, without giving a name, said the complaint was brought on behalf of a former park service employee who claimed to be Catholic.
