Health Secretay Nominee May Cut Programs
We here at DU hate to tell the "traditional values" Red Staters, we told you so, but damn it, WE TOLD YOU SO! How can Americans be SOOOO stupid? Canada is about 2 hours away from me and it looks damn good. This country is going down the crapper, fast.

WASHINGTON - "Michael Leavitt, President Bush (news - web sites)'s choice to be secretary of Health and Human Services (news - web sites), may have to cut billions of dollars from the government's mammoth health programs for the elderly, poor and disabled to pare the budget deficit".

"The Medicare and Medicaid programs, consuming nearly $500 billion a year and growing quickly, could be vulnerable in the context of last year's $413 billion budget deficit, the ongoing war in Iraq (news - web sites), costly domestic security commitments and administration plans to revamp Social Security (news - web sites) without raising taxes".

1. I used to rant that people leaving the US were (bad)...
Indeed, I had a post deleted for speaking my mind.

You know what?

I'm changing my tune.

And who is to thank?

The DLC

We have two choices: Get cozy with the DLC or go the other way. We liberals are not liked by even our own party anymore. We can either jump ship or team up with the puke-lites, which is no different than teaming up with the repukes.

I am unable to leave so I may as well be pro-DLC.

Okay, it's obvious I don't know what to think or do. But it's all one big stinking joke and I no longer have malice to anyone who wants to leave. There is no future. Got it?

2. So here I am, a Liberal
And I have a few choices. I can support a candidate who has accepted the assistance of the DLC in the past, for Governor, who may actually have a chance to get elected. Or I can go farther to the left (here in Florida) and support a candidate who doesn't stand a chance in hell of getting elected.

So either we have a Governor, who apparently would not be acceptable to yourself and many others who post here. Or we get another Jebbie, or a Jebbie clone.

4. Hey..............
I'm retired, I've fought too many battle against these slimeballs and now my Party wants to abandon true Progressives to be just like them. I'm old, tired of fighting and need a dose of sanity in my life. I'm sure as hell not going to get it here.
Besides, I like Tim Horton's, maple syrup, GOOD beer and Kingston is one great city. It's right across the river from the States (40 min. Ferry ride) and I love Canadian TV.
See ya!

3. The Name For This
Is "culling", and that's what they intend to do, cull the heard.

So now they must rid this country of the weak, thus enabling the strong to survive. And as the elderly, poor, and disabled start to
die, those like Falwell and Robertson will convince their flocks that
it is the will of God, and the kool-aid drinkers will buy it.

We continue to travel down that road into darkness and evil, and just like the Nazis the government will now turn on the weak and those
unable to defend themselves, and remove them by taking away their health care.

Now let's see if the Democrats in Congress denounce this man.

I'm not going to hold my breath!!!!
