Have students GPAs gone down this semester because of the stolen election?
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 11:44 AM by GingerSnaps
We finished our finals on Friday and my GPA went down a bit because I missed my mid terms because of election depression. To be honest I haven't been able to concentrate this semester because of the Ohio recount and knowing about BBV and thinking about another 4 years of watching an unelected arrogant war monger.

Professors were talking about how this whole semester a high percentage of students have been absent or not with it more than the semesters before this one.

I had to take one incomplete so that I could make sure that I will receive an A in the class in order to bring my GPA back up. This semester I received 2 B's and a C.

I wonder if anyone is conducting a study on the subject of college GPA's this term and how the election has or hasn't effected them?

4. I have a regional accent for the area that I live in
I tend to write the way that we speak in my area.

My IQ is 148 and I am definitely not stupid.

One thing that people need to understand is that some people speak more than one language and have grown up in other parts of the world. Being stupid about which word you choose to use in the English language has nothing to do with ones IQ.

Have you ever taken a MENSA test? It has nothing to do with pronunciation or spelling because that deals with memorization and not how smart someone is or isn't.

3. I have to see if I can pull it out of the fire...
But my grades definitely would have been higher if I had been able to focus before and/or after the election.

6. I didn't have to take a final in my Economics class
The professor told me that I was an A student and I had a choice. Either I could not take the final and end up with a high B+ or take the final and end up with an A. I took the B+ because I had projects to finish and several other tests to cram for.

Stupid about taking the B+ maybe but I didn't take a midterm in his class either. He said that I was one of the smartest ladies that he has every met in his entire life. I felt pretty proud of that comment and he told the whole class that is why he picked me to debate over Bush vs Kerry in the beginning of the semester. I tend to mix the English language up once in a while because I have lived in several countries, i grew up with parents that had ethnic accents from another part of the country and living in NY for several years along with everything else doesn't help.

I have Mae West's accent (at least that is what I have been told by tons of people) and I am a card carrying member of MENSA. :D

7. I couldn't concentrate this semester
I had to go to the student crisis center at my College. My depression has been so severe that I was thinking about ending it all the night of the election. I just couldn't take knowing that our country had died that night. When we loose our voting rights we are no longer a free country.

Were you so depressed that it was impossible to read a chapter and retain the information about what you were reading?

9. grades, life, etc.
I have been wondering, since Nov.3, as three friends cried while driving around listening to Kerry's concession speech, so abruptly early, as not all of the votes had been counted...how it would feel to be 20 or so , and gungho about this election, knowing the whole planet's existence depended on getting the parasitic greed monsters out of office...Take heart in knowing that someone is sitting around wondering about you and your state of mind. I know nothing. My 11 year old daughter came home talking about the Holocaust. She was very upset and worried(we're part Jewish) I had to look her in the eye and lie to her. I said "This is America, it will never happen here. We won't let anything bad happen to you." I smiled over her shoulder to my southern raised husband, nowing, both of of knowing that those are hollow words in these times.
