If Presidential elections are fixed as appears to be the case, what is to

stop the spread of this disease to Senatorial, Congressional, Gubernatorial and other elections down the line? At what point do we realize that Democracy is dead and we are no better than the old nemesis, the Soviet Union? or any of the Banana Republics?

When do our media start realizing that using words like "a source close to the President" or "a Senior Administration Official" would elicit derision instead of the authority it is supposed to convey.May be we have already crossed that point.

I wish the NYT and other MSM simply fire all the op-ed writers, correspondents and hacks and replace them with people from other countries who are not beholden to the corporate money machines.
Why is outsourcing this work any different from outsourcing the work of IT workers or assembly line workers?

At least such a change may result in our being able to hear the truth.

1. I think this horror spread from the bottom up over the last 20 or so..
years.

The Congress was hacked in 1994 and the Senate was completed in 2002.

2. Again?
At what point do we realize that Democracy is dead and we are no better than the old nemesis, the Soviet Union? or any of the Banana Republics?

Oh for Pete's sake. You have a whole forum for this, and yet still it keeps showing up in GD.

3. Anyone remember the 2002 Senatorial elections?
They were the dry-runs for this Presidential election.
Think Max Cleland REALLY lost? How about the Minn Senatorial election....what's his name..the idiot that called for Kofi Annon to resign. He won after Wellstone was killed. Also, the guy who won in (?)Iowa, after they bought the voting machines from the company that he had owned! This is NOT the first election that has been fixed, and the President is not the only office that was won with these machines.

4. It's already happened! Your not familiar with Max Cleveland 2002
Edited on Mon Dec-20-04 07:41 PM by Zinfandel
Incumbent Georgia Democrat, (then) US Senator, Max Cleveland, was up in ALL the polls by double digits right up until election day in 2002...All electronic voting machines were (are) used in Georgia... on voting day exit polls had Cleveland winning by double digits...the electronic voting machines went down mysteriously late into the night...by morning Cleveland's Republican opponent was up, by almost double digits and declared the winner.

Yes, there was no paper trail, the machines were a republican owned and serviced company and there was no way to verify the votes...

That was the test run for the 2004 presidential election and why thousands more Electronic voting machines have replacing ballot machines all over the country...and will continue to do so as we speak and head into the 2006 elections.

This will assure the republicans of their 60-40 Senate (no filibuster) majority in 2006. (And forever!)

5. I'm sure the fix is in
In far more elections than we could imagine. The apple isn't just rotten on the outside, but clear to the core.
