1. Have pity, not anger . . .
because it must be a terrible thing to go through life and be so ignorant and uninformed. These are the people who believe that their literally fantastic version of Jesus loves those that they are comfortable with and actually will banish to hell those that they are not comfortable with.

5. It's probably already but done, but they need
a Bible for Dummies. One of those yellow and black books that interpret things simply for those who just don't have a grasp.

One thing I really can't stand about these new "Christians" is their public displays of religion. It reeks of insincerety.

The "prince of peace" is not honored by this hateful bunch.

11. Yup, it's been done -- here are the links:
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 10:26 AM by Vitruvius
The Bible for Dummies: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764552961/qid=1103987469/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8639423-7287912?v=glance&s=books

The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Bible (2nd Edition): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0028643828/qid=1103987485/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-8639423-7287912?v=glance&s=books

And Rethugnicans might be particularly interested in what their own kind do in the Bible:
Big Dummies Of The Bible: And How You Can Avoid Being A Dummy Too: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0849907705/qid=1103987469/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/104-8639423-7287912?v=glance&s=books

Problem is: Rethugs aren't big on reading. Not even the Bible, and not even 'Bible for Dummies' books... And Rethug preachers cater to their Rethug flocks' greedy prejudices by teaching them that their being rich shows that they're God's Chosen Elect, deserve to get richer, and will go to Heaven -- and that poor people are poor because they are sinners, deserve to be poor, and as such will be damned to eternal Hellfire.

Which is why Rethugs will lie, cheat, steal, and stab you in the back without a scruple. Because -- as God's Chosen Elect -- they're entitled to. And the fact that -- as rich people or as managers -- they can get away with it 'proves' that it is God's will that they be enriched by ruining other peoples' careers & lives...

By-the-way, many of the same cater-to-the-rich churches used similar rationales to 'justify' slavery.

19. the indoctrination of the christian right seems an awful lot like
the indoctrination of the rabid Muslim extremists who take their leaders' interpretation, and never actually read the teachings themselves.

We can thank the 700 Club and similar outfits for the mass deception of America.

12. King Kong died for our sins
I dreamed I stood upon a hill, and, lo!
The godly multitudes walked to and fro
Beneath, in Sabbath garments fitly clad,
With pious mien, appropriately sad,
While all the church bells made a solemn din -
A fire-alarm to those who lived in sin.

Then saw I gazing thoughtfully below,
With tranquil face, upon that holy show
A tall, spare figure in a robe of white,
Whose eyes diffused a melancholy light.

“God keep you, stranger,” I exclaimed,”You are
No doubt (your habit shows it) from afar;
And yet I entertain the hope that you,
Like these good people, are a Christian, too.”

He raised his eyes and with a look so stern
It made me with a thousand blushes burn
Replied - his manner with disdain was spiced:
“What! I a Christian? No, indeed! I’m Christ.”

15. I wonder why their 'advice' isn't good enough for them to take themselves.
After all, whining about Americans exercising their rights and freedoms seems very Royalist to me. Maybe they should just go back to England? After all, those Revolutionaries were just a bunch of guys that didn't like the status quo, right? :eyes:

8. The exploitation of the World gave us our luxuries.
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 09:40 AM by indigobusiness
And our ease and accustomedness to luxuries will facilitate our downfall. The sort of self-reliance and commonsense ability of a hundred years ago is quickly waning. Our culture has evolved into one of systems manipulators, with few real-world practical abilities.

When the systems we rely on break down, even briefly, all hell breaks loose. Imagine LA with empty supermarkets...even for a week or two? Or NYC without water...which very nearly came to pass a few years back?

The resources that fueled the blossoming of America are not infinite, when they begin to run out, America will bear bitter fruit. We must learn live within our organic means and needs. The ostentatiousness of America is grotesque, and ultimately fatal.

Dominionism is death.

9. All these right wing nut cases, world wide, in all religious should
be forced to live with each other in the 1500's where their minds are.Good God they will kill us all trying to prove that they are right and no one should think out of the little box they have put them self into. All these people seem to be in fear of one new thing. I guess it is because they are so un-sure of what their religious has done to them. Look at the Middle East Countries for being back wards and the Right wing places in education rates in this country. Where do they get their money from? Many right out of these Northern Blue States. It is a dying group world wide if they do not kill us off first. Right now Bush is most likely filling the moot with water.

and frightening...where would all of the Americans who don't love Jesus go to? It's like telling African Americans to go back where they came from. These sick f*#ks are racist on every level. Shocking but it shouldn't be.

14. Yup Jeebus did give us our luxuries, in fact I just saw him...
Driving in his tricked out caddie. He had a big J hood ornament.

I just laugh my ass off at those kind of truly bizarre comments.

17. If Jesus gave us our luxaries then he totally screwed of the Native Americ
I don't think Jesus wants credit for our "luxaries." Especially since he is the one who said it is easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.
