When Rumsfeld, during his recent trip to Iraq, to bolster the morale
Edited on Sat Dec-25-04 06:43 PM by KlatooBNikto
of our troops after the Mosul attack said "We have had setbacks ,but in the end we will win",it reminded me of an incident related by William Shirer.During a visit to Berlin by Molotov ,the dour Russian Foreign Minister,Hitler was bragging about how he will beat back the British, when allied planes appeared over the city dropping bombs some of which shattered glass in the Chancery. As Hitler led Molotov into a bomb shelter to continue the conversations, he remarked" This is a life and death struggle". Molotov, the humorless Soviet Commissar could not take this bragging any more and came back with:
"Yes.I understand it is a life and death struggle. That means you are fighting for your life and they are fighting for your death"!

Something like that may well be happening in Iraq today and Rumsfeld, as dense as the Fuehrer ever was, simply cannot understand it.
