2. I think Dave Barry had an article on this a few years ago.
He pointed out that the best test of intelligence in some states is the percentage of young people that get the hell out at the first opportunity.

3. There was an article about the low number of high school grads
going on to college in Nevada, the low test scores, the high dropout rate, yadda, yadda in Nevada...made Nevada look down right RED STUPID!!! And that way, you can fool alot of folks!

5. Damn. I hate it when facts get in the way of my superiority complex
Yeh, on closer examination... Utah really should be much higher. I'd be surprised if it isn't on par with Connecticut for IQ scores (which are largely a measure of cultural exposure and education level.
