Bar codes are the Mark of the Beast!
Edited on Sun Dec-26-04 10:01 PM by ocelot
History Channel show on the Apocalypse says some people believe this. The Antichrist will use bar codes to mark everybody. The show is pretty balanced, but one of their interviewees is a serious fundie wingnut.

3. History Channel leans right. Its Bush's way of rewriting history
But heres the thing about getting rid of social security that is the one thing used to identify us here in america.

I can see this happening closer and closer. How the fundamentalist are going to deal with it is probably march right in there and get their bar code...

2. Mark of the Beast
Scriptural References:

"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name. This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666" (Rev. 13:16-18).

"A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: 'If ANYONE worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name. This calls for patient endurance on the part of THE SAINTS who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus' " (Rev. 14:9-12).

18. Is this mumble jumble suppose to have a meaning related to "Bar Codes?
Please explain to this ignorant soul that doesn't believe in angles and considers himself a Saint of the highest order in the name of God's only son.

4. Barbara Bush = "Bar"
So it's definitely something having to do with the Bush family.
:scared::crazy:

Tried to watch the first 45 mins. of that show, I really did, but no one has ever been able to explain to me why they believe in Revelations as some literal prediction of the future. All of this waiting around for Jesus to come back... it makes zero sense to me. I don't fear the meteors floating around out there that are aimed at us, but I definitely fear those who are currently working their asses off trying to bring Jesus back by nuking us all into oblivion. And when our species does become extinct, the world won't "end," it will breathe a huge sigh of relief!

The mark of the beast, no one can live their lives without that mark.

Can you purge Windows completely from your life?

Hmm, I can think of a couple other things too that's considered 'indispensable' as well, it depends on an active imagination.

6. Reminds me of "Alien3"
in which the prisoners in a futuristic, isolated prison had bar codes on the backs of their necks.

15. My fundy cousin freaked out when she say that.
Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 10:38 AM by Ladyhawk
She's no longer a fundy, but she has a lot of weird paranormal beliefs. I let her do a tarot reading on me and she said I'd meet a blond-haired man in April of that year who would be my life mate. I'm still waiting. :)

7. Endtime Insights
There is an interesting website called Endtime Insights found at http://www.endtimeinsights.com. The pastor's name is Steve Wholberg and I think he gives the most common sense approach to the end times.

The talks about barcodes are rooted in Jesuit Futurism. What pastor Wholberg tries to communicate is that the Bible is not meant to be interpreted literally like some of the right wing conservative christian fundamentalists are doing. The bible is written in metaphor and needs to be treated as such. That's his point on all of this.

14. I've read that a young girl in Scotland had a vision of

this "Rapture" and then it was adopted by some preachers. I don't think any mainstream Protestant churches accept it and certainly we Catholics don't.

Nor do Catholics or mainstream Protestants believe Revelation is to be taken literally.

16. Back in the 80's,
the fundie church my parents were dragging us to said this. Barcodes are the mark of the beast, oh, and the reference to the event to which all of the world will witness? His explanation was satellite TV...(if you ask now, it's probably the web).

My hubby was watching that show...he said they said Reagan was the antichrist because his first, middle, and last names all had 6 letters...6-6-6. I told him that dubya was the antichrist...bearing false prophets!
