Wow. C-span finally has programming on the tsunami.
I am stunned.

I have been checking them periodically over the last 24 hours, and haven't seen anything.

In fact, it sucks no one has covered this consistently until this a.m.. Why don't we have a single news outlet to cover major catastrophic events like this...does anyone know of a good non-geological site that is covering this with reports out of the affected countries?

2. This is actually a very good U.N. briefing.
When they scan the audience there are like five people there.

One American tourist interviewed said it was just like 9/11 (they moved to Hong-Kong from New York post 9/11) when everyone was walking around asking if anyone had seen their loved ones. This is now 7 times the casualties of 9/11 yet very little consistent coverage on tv.

It's shameful. I especially expected C-span to break away from their hatemongering repuke think-tank conferences to cover this alot sooner than they have now.

I remember watching C-span non-stop when JFK jr. disappeared.

4. I Am Not Surprised By The Lack Of Coverage - This Is Just One More
Example of selective representation used by the US media to slant the news in favor of big business interests and their captive politicians.

We could not have the "beautiful minds" of Republicans polluted by reality, now could we?

6. I still think of C-span as neutral
but I could very well be wrong about this...thus I expected them to be covering this much sooner, what the f**k does it take for them to break away from a booksigning, a nuclear war?

3. It's been all over MSNBC.
MSNBC is almost like a news outlet.

5. but the sexy coverage isn't very informative
I've seen the same video clips 20 times, and the personal stories that garner ratings...but I do want to hear some official stuff.

I do use MSNBC first choice because they have Keith Olberman on there, they are the first one I hold my nose and go to.

7. I think alot of the issue is..
They dont have a hell of a lot of media outlets out there and some areas are in such distress they cant get communications back. The death toll will continue to rise.

What amazes me is that 16K+ people are dead already and so many people dont even seem to care.

8. Some Fox News freak kept bringing up terrorism
the topic was is the US in Tsunami danger.

and this fucktard kept saying things like:

We need to fund more first responders in case of a natural disaster, or a terror attack.

We need better prediction for these types of disasters, or terrorism.

It was like he had a quota and had to mention Terrorism in every other sentence.

10. quota
probably did.

Rupert Murdock just bought the most expensive private residence in New York city. So I guess it works for them.

Sad.
