It's okay for states to have state-sponsored religion! Like, Virginia could have a state religion and Utah could have a different state religion.

1. Do you have a link or is this on teh radio?
I'm pretty sure that won't fly. What does having a state religion mean in this context? I mean if it was like a state flower, well symbolically it would still be 100% wrong, but not something most people wojuld get worked out. On the other hand, if they put some teeth in the idea of a state religion-- well, there aren't worlds enough to suggest the ways that idea is stupid and un-American.

3. On his radio show
Here's another one - waiving "due process" - if GWB says that the way the courts are treating you is legal, then it's legal - in relation to the enemy combatant detainees (Thomas) "Due process requires nothing more than a good faith (something) from the executive"

I'll try to get his source for these quotes

9. Good thing that Fat Tony and Good Ol' Clarence aren't those dreaded...
"activist judges", isn't it?
God, I hate Scalia (which, of course, means that I also hate his faithful manservant)

10. no kidding
i had a relative explain to me how freedom from religion means that we're all free to be christian, and how being undecided or nonreligious makes america NOT american...

needless to say i wasted several minutes talking to him, then avoided him the rest of the evening...

hmm, this is the relative that i've never really liked and is a total jackass...no wonder he distorts the meaning of the first amendment!

12. I love Thom!
His books are fantastic! Currently, I'm reading "Unequal Protection: The Rise of Corporate Dominance & the Theft of Human Rights." It is very good, as are all the books I've read by him.

I highly recommend his book "We the People: A Call to Take Back America." It is written in a comic book fashion, so it is a quick read, but chocked full of great information & also would be a good primer on democracy for children.

13. Oh this would be wonderful in Texas!
The Catholics and Baptists would be at one another's throats. It would end up looking like the St. Bartholomew's Massacre in some parts of Texas, only with the Protestant and Catholic roles reversed.
