15 million dollars????
Why don't we just give India a Tomahawk missile. They'd get more money off of that, than the 15 million we're giving them. Goes to show where this administration's priorities lie.

1. That's a good amount of cash.

The EU is talking $4 million and Canada is $1 million. $15 is the highest I've seen from anyone.

BTW, it wouldn't surprise me if American citizens sent just as much privately.

2. A lot of good US programming jobs go to India. It's only fair we
give the most to help out the disaster.

On a serious note, didn't we only give $50,000 to Haiti when it got hit by the hurricane?

3. That amount is an insult....
Especially when you consider they're spending $40 million on Bush's inaugeration.....and he's already president! He could try for once to be the nice guynd say, "Hey, let's take this money that's gonna be wasted on parties and send it t those in need!"

4. WHAT??? And disappoint all those...
"good 'ol boys and gals" who will be ridin' up from down south to take part in the All-american parade? Not to mention the evangelicals who will march with bibles open and the KKK who will march in full regalia. Nope! We GOTTA have the inawgerashun.

5. I think that amount is more than the rest of the world combined
is planning on sending. And that doesn't include any of the money individuals will send on their own.

6. 15 Million just "pledged": the Actual figure is 400,000 to the embassies
and 4,000,000 to the ICRC.

Bush always promises triple, delivers 1/3 and the rest gets eaten up by cronies.

Furthermore this relief has been slow in coming.. 24 hours too late.

7. Before we go off the handle here
Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 03:47 PM by Dr Batsen D Belfry
1) look at what we are giving relative to what is being requested by the Indinesian government, Red Cross and Red Crescent
2) look at what is being pledged by every government around the world
3) research what $15mm buys in their country, not ours.

Just trying to put it into perspective. I still wish we would contribute one hell of a lot more.
