Have any fundamentalist Christians weighed in on the tsunamis?
Has any fundamentalistwacko spoken on TV or in a LTTE about the tsunmais yet? Have they said that the victims are being punished for not being Christians (most of them, anyway)?

It's very odd how they just post information with little commentary or discussion.

6. Someone posted last night that they had heard

such tripe on talk radio. I think the show was hosted by Tammy Bruce, but am not sure about the name.

I haven't heard of any religious leaders other than the pope speaking out. The pope has already spoken about the disaster several times, urging people to help. Of course there will be Catholic aid, including a special fund set up at the Vatican, and I expect all the mainstream Protestant churches will also contribute. They are probably speaking about it, too. The pope gets better coverage because he's the leader of Catholics around the world. There's no comparable world leader of Presbyterians.

11. one female caller was quite poetic
she said God was washing the Thai children out to sea, to save them from being used for sex.

I wondered if she came up with that imagery on her own, or if it came from some preacher.

I also wondered how many of these modern cavemen are there (no offense to cavemen), and if they also think thunder is God bowling.

20. Of Course She Has To Go Into Graphic Detail
I heard one lady blaming the Thai sex trade for the Tsunami (of course that doesn't address the FACT the quake and worst destruction hit Indonesia, but why should that ruin her rapture)...and then, when questioned by the AEI/C-SPAN "host" went into more specifics. It wasn't just sex...it was <b>anal sex</b>, <b>oral sex</b>...and it was something she obviously knows a lot about because she saw something or another about it on television. Mindboggling...and scary.

and looking for a place to hide.

Fundies should pay special note to the verse that says that when the son of Man returns, the kings of this earth will be hiding in caves, cowering in fear.

Anyone seen Cheney lately? They're probably all safely hidden away in that little bunker in case the whole world above blows to pieces.

Those snivelling 9-11 cowards.

Here... we'll use a Drudge source for this one. It's the only one lurking freepers will trust:

"Site R," an underground bunker on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border where the Vice President spent much of his time in 2001.

19. I heard a wingnut on some inane AM radio talk show this morning...
Had a brief fit of insomnia last night and donned the headset and browsed through the AM airwaves to take my mind off NOT being able to get back to sleep.

Anyway some idiot caller to some idiot show (am not sure of the host or the station since reception was not the best) said it was no coincidence this happened at Christmas time. Said the same thing happened last year in Bam, Iran with the earthquake. Said Jaysus was sending a message to all the non-belivers.

I decided I was better off counting sheep and turned the damned radio off. I couldn't beleive someone actually holds this twisted belief.

22. Heh! If you liked your visit to Rapture Ready...
...check out "Fundies Say The Darnedest Things." Rapture Ready denizens are frequently quoted. The board hoster fell in love this year and stopped updating. But the archive is still there.

Keep one hand on your lower jaw. It will be dropping frequently. A few modest examples:

"It's not only the communists but the homosexual activists who are appalled that George Bush is married to a woman!" - photo3, RaptureReady

"We should band Islum over here just as Christianity is banded over there!"- Sky Watcher, RaptureReady

"I agree with Sky Watcher. I don't believe Islam has any place in our society. This nation was founded on Chrisitianity. I think one of the biggest mistakes our country ever made was allowing immigrants to infiltrate their false religions into our society. It has polluted and diluted our faith." - SpokenFor, RaptureReady

<Replying to "how do you distinguish what is true from what is not true?"> "EASY!!!!!! If it aligns with the Bible-It is true
If it doesnt-It is false. viola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm calling all Christians on this board, all God fearing, God loving people, to open your eyes to this subject who considers himself a follower. We absolutely need to keep Bush in office. He has done a fabulous job and will keep our country together. We may be losing troops everyday over in the middle east. Just remember, that every man who dies over there for us, shares the same glory that Jesus recieved when he died for us.

fox news is fair and balance it supports both liberal and conservative viewpoints equally and it shows how liberal leaning other outlets are twilly spree you are supporting the death of thousand of children repent or suffer the dire consequences

28. Yeah, that makes sense.
After all, the Bible is full of stories of *Jesus* striking people dead for not believing in him. Yes, that's what he was all about - like when he let that woman get stoned for adultery, and all the blind people he said were blind because of their sin, . . .

Oh wait - he did just the OPPOSITE. Hmm.

I'm not even a Christian and know more about their stories than they do.

30. Well, Jesus did zap that fig tree...
One of the dumbest stories in the New Testament--no small accomplishment.

"Withering" a tree for not producing fruit out of season makes ol' Jesus look not only childish and petulant, but dim-witted as well.

I'm not a Christian anymore either...that should be fairly obvious. But I'm somewhat grateful for being raised among Southern Baptists and a variety of Fundamentalist sects that would have put William James on the laughing gas for good. One relative used to drag me to the Fire-Baptized Pentecostal Holiness Church, where people frequently flopped around in the floor and jabbered in the Unknown Tongues.

On the positive side, it was the only church I ever attended which featured electric guitars along with the piano.

I'm grateful because I had probably read the whole Bible by the time I got to Seventh Grade. So when I decided to become a Grumpy Old Atheist, I certainly didn't do so out of ignorance.

In fact, doubts and questions were what started me on the road to atheism. I was immediately suspicious when my questions were answered with "You're not supposed to ask that."

I don't know which is better preparation for being an atheist--Fundamentalism or strict Roman Catholicism. They're probably about equal.

23. Times like this
You know, it is times like this I am so glad I am not a Christian! I would be so pissed if people claiming to be in the same group as me acted this way. It is disgraceful. Not only do the manage to insult the religions of others, but their own!! Good job, you fucking wackos!

At this very moment, and since this disaster, REAL Christians jumped into action to help any way they could. Their first actions were not to condemn those lost, criticize others, or explain away this disaster. To those Christian Duers here that think you are under attack, you are! But, it is by those who are trying to defile your religion, not those of us who may not agree with your tenets!

This has brought out the best and worst in people all over the world. It is a shame that something like this brings out wackos to compound the pain of loss! Shame!

27. And yet...
They are the ones who get all the press! To me, it is similar to gay pride parades. You never see just the "regular" folks, you get the "buttless chaps" brigade. They represent a VERY small portion of our community. Another example, when ever they interview someone in the South, it always seems the look for the person with two teeth in their head and can't string three words together! It is sad their hate is what makes the news!

31. No kidding. They pick the most outrageous person. It's like when Rudolph
was first wanted by the FBI where I live. We were swamped with reporters. I'd watch the news and see people I'd never seen in my life. They interviewed idiots who weren't even from here and then did stories on how all the locals were rooting for him to elude the FBI. It was awful. I was working at a restaurant at the time and they were interviewing people in the parking lot. Some of the dish boys thought it would be really funny to make stuff up. Of course, they made the news as local sympathizers.
