He sends Powell to the embassies to sign the condolence books, when HE should be doing it in PERSON! After all he supposedly 'represents' America not Powell... grrrr....

6. I also heard Kofi Annan stayed on his ski vacation.
What is it with these people? Don't they realize people are in need?

10. He did stay on vacation
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 09:00 AM by maduroftime
Justified it by saying with the global communications as they were he could keep in constant contact on the ski slopes...

This is getting frustrating, millions of people dying from disaster, disease, famine after the tsunami and our world leaders would either lounge around or ski and sip cocoa

edit: grammar

18. Maybe you should inform the news services of their errors
International aid pledges for the disaster zone surpassed $500-million (U.S.) yesterday after Britain and the World Bank announced major new efforts. But UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said much more would be needed.

"This is an unprecedented global catastrophe, and it requires an unprecedented global response," he said after returning to the UN from holidays to chair a series of aid meetings.

(snip/...)

He had a press conference yesterday. It was on C-Span. He was not on vacation at the time.

13. Annan did NOT stay on vacation...
he returned to the UN. This lie is being spread far and wide in a pathetic attempt to mitigate bush's negligence in responding to the disaster and his heartless and late response.

17. There's a thread on Kofi Annan already.
Maybe your charges would be more appropriate there, and wouldn't serve to change the subject of this thread:
