NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF INDEPENDENCE
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 07:25 AM by Petrushka
5th November 2004 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time

To the citizens of the former United States of America:

In the light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and thus to properly govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the Revocation of your Independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories. Except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new prime minister (The Right Honorourable Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a Minister for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect:

5. You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen", but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get confused and give up half way through.

< snip >

8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new national holiday, but only in Britain. It will be called "Bushwacking Day".

2. Shoot !! I mean: Forget the poodle . . . because . . . (groan) . . .
7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

5. "Viceroy" probably (now) for the French . . . because . . .
18. Contrary to what your graduate school history books say, you did not win the American War of Independence. The French did. France, who also built your Statue of Liberty, has agreed to this Revocation of Independence in return for a license to export snails in garlic sauce to Orkney.

14. Whatever you're saying in French is . . .
. . . is all Greek to me! Except, that is, for "Cajun". "Cajun" I understand. I mean: there's a bottle of Chef Paul Prudhomme's "Cajun Magic" Gumbo File in my spice cabinet. ;)

18. In other words, the English can keep New England and we'll keep
New France, starting with New Orleans (where I hold court) stretching all the way to Canada. The English may use the Mississippi River for trade but must pay a tariff in gold or silver. Our Gaelic cousins, the Irish, can pay with barrels of Guinness. :9

Texas goes back to Mexico and the Native Americans can live any damn place they want on the continent. :)

12. After reading Reply #9 . . .
. . . I did a google.com search and found that there's more than one version of the Notice of Revocation of Independence--with one of them supposedly written in November of 2000! Don't know where the Notice originated--but more than one person has taken credit for being the author. Imagine that! In any case . . . :)

21. Ps-s-st !! Don't let on that I told you so; but . . .
. . . I had to do a google.com search to find out what in the world you meant by "BBC3"! And, then, another search for "Vince Noire + Mighty Boosh". So . . . (heh) . . . imagine THAT !! :dunce:
