Not listening to Conservative Radio has cleared my brain
I spent so much time as a Navy man and after that I used to listen to nothing but conservative radio.

In the last two years I have got sick of it, I now listen to my baseball (Cubs, White Sox or Brewers) or leave it off (although recently a local station started carrying the Ed Schultz program, and I enjoy this one so I may start listening to political radio again).

This morning I tuned into a local conservative radio program (Charlie Sykes on WTMJ Milwaukee) and could only stomach about 5 minutes of it.

This has led me to wonder, was listening to conservative radio stoking and conditioning me to a more conservative viewpoint than I would have normally felt comfortable with?

My family says that I am easier to be around since (except when the Cubs lose) I changed my radio habits.

Just wondering.

2. Great question. I often wonder if, when we "monitor" hate radio
we progressives just become shriller ourselves because we think we have to be as much of an unfeeling monster like Rush or Hannity.

3. The times that I have listened to conservative radio,
it seemed as though they were reducing opposing perspectives to "strawman arguements" that were easier for them to criticize, and so I think that those who listen to conservative radio don't gain an accurate understanding of what the opposing perspectives are.

5. It's brainwashing
We really need a scientific study on this. Day after day, hour after hour of unjustified rage and lies. I'd like to know exactly what kind of damage it's doing to the listener.

6. Conservative Radio conditions people to believe that
rich and powerful people are the underdogs .
rush and the like make the poor masses believe
the people who run everything are the underdogs
and that poor (gays, women , and different races)
are the reason life is tough on them .

rw radio keeps those of us who struggle in this
society divided . They are always hollering how
"liberal elites" are ruining for the "average"
person.

Little do they know that Rush limbaugh , goes
to Paris France for vacations and stays in the fancy
Elite hotels . While he is there he puffs on Cuban
cigars . I bet he chuckles to himself and thinks
of his listeners while he lights his cigars with
100 dollar bills .

9. I absolutely believe listening day in and day out
can affect your viewpoints beliefs, and and your behavior.

even with me, if i listen to nothing but air america all day long, i can get quite unpleasant to be around. I remember at the height of my listening, people i knew for years were accusing me of ranting and raving, and not making sense, where i used to ahve well-thought arguments before.

which is sorta true - i was a bit out of control and shrill - especially after listening to randi.

i still listen these days to Morning Sedition, and Randi int he evening, but i take a break with some music during the commercials.

11. gee, ya think?
cable news does the same thing.

talk radio has replaced communists with american liberals. worst thing is, there actually were communists; the american liberal is a figment of their imagination. a

all of us hold hypocritical, complicated & contradictory opinions.
