Bush will gain political advantage from the US tsunami humanitarian relief
And I don't care. The important thing here is helping these people. Let Bush bask in the glow of our tax dollars being spent for humanitarian relief. It doesn't matter. Just get the help to these people ASAP. That is all that is important right now.

1. I doubt it. Everything he has done so far has come off as damage control.

2. he was uncaring and indifferent fro the get go
he will never shake that image no matter how much money the US sends in aid. and it's our job to ensure that image sticks to him like white on rice

3. I agree.
The U.S. is the most visible foreign presence on the ground, along with Australians. It's a good thing.

4. I do not think he ...
... needs political advantage, or that he will gain much goodwill, if that is the same as political advantage. Who's it going to help him with in our country? Those who supported him before will continue to grovel before him (except for those few who are growing weary of his lack of adherence to every traditional conservative tradition). The rest of us continue to see him for the shallow self-centered buffoon he is.

Who's it going to help him with overseas? Very few perhaps, as his entire misadministration has been a moral affront to decent people of all nations.

I agree that it is important for the US to help ... too bad we cannot rewind these last couple of years and somehow spend part of the treasure wasted in Iraq on tsunami aid. Did I mention Social Security is on the edge of ruin and we need to privatize it stat?

5. we need to keep track of the $'s pledged compared to the $'s spent
in a few months when all this fades a bit. To pledge for PUBLICITY is one thing, to give is another.

6. I totally agree.
Though I don't think he'll gain political advantage. He looked like he didn't care and then he looked like a cheapskate.

The damage has been done. He can't go back and undo it.

But yeah, get that freaking money to those areas, and FAST before more die from a lack of clean water, etc.

8. I agree with the first response.....
Everything Bush has done so far has been reaction/damage control. Clinton had to shame the administration into doing something. Bush has tried to brush off the delay as taking time to "get all the facts before making a decision", but the damage is done.
