Tucker Carlson fired from CNN - We need to thank Stewart and Klein
Edited on Thu Jan-06-05 12:58 AM by joevoter
NEW YORK - CNN said goodbye to pundit Tucker Carlson on Wednesday, and with him likely the "Crossfire" program that has been the granddaddy of high-volume political debate shows on cable television.

CNN will probably fold "Crossfire" into its other programming, perhaps as an occasional segment on the daytime show "Inside Politics," said Jonathan Klein, who was appointed in late November as chief executive of CNN's U.S. network.

Klein on Wednesday told Carlson, one of the four "Crossfire" hosts, that CNN would not be offering him a new contract. Carlson has reportedly been talking with MSNBC about a prime-time opening replacing Deborah Norville.

Carlson did not immediately return a call to his cell phone for comment.

The bow-tied wearing conservative pundit got into a public tussle last fall with comic Jon Stewart, who has been critical of cable political programs that devolve into shoutfests.

"I guess I come down more firmly in the Jon Stewart camp," Klein told The Associated Press.

10. I think its too bad only because
crossfire was only on 30 min a day and he was not the only one talking but now it looks like he will be on prime-time for an hour on MSNBC if the reports are accurate.

Crossfire had outlived itself....Was great a decade ago when PatB and Micheal K. were the hosts but once they were gone it kind of stunk

11. Wow....maybe there is actually hope for CNN after all
I thought CNN was a lost cause. But this new cheif executive already has proven to have a somewhat straight head on his shoulders.....Perhaps he will turn to the direction of CNN away from shilling for Bushco.

13. How low can you go...fired by CNN. MSNBC, leave Norville alone
Good grief, she actually covers important content from time to time and you can look at her with out the gag reflex Carlson engenders.

I can only hope that this is the start of the dismantling of conservative pundits on TV and radio.

15. Can others be far behind?
I sure hope so. But lets face it folks. Their hate sells. Mind you Tucker Carlson is the kind of guy, all you have to do is look at him and it's instant dislike. Then he opens his big fat mouth and the most amazing dribble comes gushing out like (well, I won't say it, but you know what I mean) That's when I start wanting to hit back. And then I realize, they're not worth the energy.

I say get the clown off PBS as well. The less I see of him, (and that's only by accident while cannel surfing) the better. But what the heck. I'm sure he doesn't have to work another day in his life if he doesn't want to. He's rich.

Just the same, CNN still sucks. Just like all the 24/7 cable networks.

16. Crossfire is the last Cable News show I watch regularly
Besides the Daily Show. I like Carville and Begala. So few shows have Democrats who actually fight. I'll be sorry to see it go. It was the last thing I watched on CNN.

17. Crossfire outlived its usefulness YEARS ago.
It morphed into a cartoonish-buffoonish parody of itself.

I think they kept it oon life-support until after the elections, but it serves no purpose.

Each side sets out to bait a guest with the opposite views into saying something embarrassing.. hardly journalistic in ANY sense.

I would rather see a single guest who is "on" for say 10 minutes straight through, to just pose their point. Perhaps followed by the opposing view for an equal time.

Then perhaps a team who would "interpret" what they thought each guest had said..

At least that way, the varying views could be put forth, and the commentary could either add to or contribute nothing..that woould depend on the viewer.

Of course this will NEVER happen because the rightwingers only want ONE viewpoint exposed...theirs..... and since they own the stations, pay the salaries, and kowtow to the white house, we can kiss that idea buh-byeeeee..

What will it take for that little fuckhead to arrive shackled in the federal penitentiary to serve his sentence as an accessory to treason?
