WTF! Bush: Rove told me a small, twin-engine plane hit the WTC on 9/11

I guess, if it was a small plane, it wouldn't have been anything critical, damage and casualties would be limited; Bush could go into the Booker classroom and read about goats. But didn't Bush later say (twice) that he saw the first plane hit LIVE?

When will the real questions be asked in the media?

Dan Bartlett, White House Communications Director, also says he is there when Bush is told: " being a former pilot, had kind of the same reaction, going, was it bad weather? And I said no, apparently not."

One account explicitly says that Rove tells Bush the WTC has been hit by a large commercial airliner. However, Bush later remembers Rove saying it appeared to be an accident involving a small, twin-engine plane.

In a later recollection, Bush recalls that it is chief of staff Andrew Card who first warns him and says, "'Here's what you're going to be doing; you're going to meet so-and-so, such-and-such.' And Andy Card says, 'By the way, an aircraft flew into the World Trade Center.'"

Says a reporter who was standing nearby, "From the demeanor of the President, grinning at the children, it appeared that the enormity of what he had been told was taking a while to sink in."

The New York Times points out that flight controllers learn Flight 77 has been hijacked "within a few minutes" of 8:48.

Is Bush and his aides putting on a charade to pretend he doesn't know there is a national emergency? If so, why?

How many times was he lying in that one statement alone? (remember the "Boy, that's one lousy pilot" comment?)

Then the White House said that he charged out of the room when told about the first plane, when it was the second plane he was told about in the classroom (he told the press he knew about the first plane before he entered the classroom, and promised them a statement later).

Then realizing that too many people have seen the Booker video:

Now he was told that the first plane was a small plane? When George? Before you entered the classroom, or after? Why did you say you saw it on TV originally? If you did see it on TV, did it LOOK like a small plane? (BTW , that is impossible: the film of the first plane didn't get released until late that evening).

IIRC, it was a French documentary team that had been traveling with the NY Fire Department. I think they were busy filming the aftermath for a few days before they released what they had.

...who would ask the question: "Mr. President, on (some date) you said that you saw the video of the first plane flying into the tower. Now you say that Karl told you it was a twin engine plane. Can you clarify this apparent contradiction?" And when he evades answering that question, the next reporter would continue with "Mr. President, there were four commercial airliners hijacked that morning and our military and NORAD knew about it -- but you, the Commander In Chief, did not. Can you comment on what appears to be a rather serious breach in the chain of command?" And when he evades that one, the next reporter follows up with "When Payne Stewart's Lear Jet flew off course, it had a fighter plane escort within 15 minutes (or whatever the real figure is, something like that). Yet, with four airliners hijacked, and with one and then another of them crashing into the WTC, it was only after the Pentagon was hit that a single fighter was scrambled. Can you comment on this catastrophic lack of response?" etc., etc. I wish the White House Press Corps, or at least those who still believe they have a vital function to perform in our democracy, would get together and arrange to give the CIC a grilling at his next press conference.

about the WTC attacks when I signed on to my ISP early in the morning. The story was a brief paragraph that made it seem like a minor incident, though alarm bells went off in my head. It looks like Rove did some digging and has finally decided to go with this version, thought he should have went with this in the first place and stuck with it.

Tne video of him reading to the children is devastating. If the public knew what Bush knew before he even went into that classroom, they would get sick if they watched the video again. That's why all the secrecy about what was said when. Damnable Guilt.

by the time of the first crash, the military, pentagon and secret service all knew that 3 commercial airlners had been hijacked and one had been flown into the wtc and a second one was heading to nyc and a third one was heading back to washington.

those are facts -- if you gather up the stories of that morning it is clear -- it cannot be denied.

One of the first things I would do, would be to supeona (sp?) all of the video tapes, from all of the news crews on the scene that morning.

We know from pictures on Booker Elem's website that News 8, 10 News, and Fox 13 News had their trucks there. The classroom had a row of cameramen in the back of the room taping the whole thing. These videos would answer a lot of questions. I want to see them and I want to see them now. It's been two fucking years. What are we waiting for? Another terrorist attack?

Subpoena those videotapes... If the existing Booker video is any indication, getting those videos out to the American public would be simply devastating for Bush and his carefully crafted "hero" image.

At some point, they realized that accurate accounts of how bush reacted were potential poison.
