or so I have been told by a local who does a lot of BC canada traveling. Shocked him, and he was told it is getting that way all over BC and points east. If you want to pay in USofA dollars, there is a 'premium' to cover the daily fall of the dollar. Silver or gold preferred, loons next, euros after that, and then dollars.

3. Heh
The first time I went to the US was when you had that talented, rather sensible man Clinton in office. My crappy Aussie dollars ran at 49 US cents to the dollar then. Sucked big time.

Went back in November last year with mighty pounds, using those worthless snot-green Mickey Mouse rags you call dollars to light cigars. Great stuff.

6. Why would you buy BC bud, when Tennessee's
No. 1 crop (and it is - it ain't tobacco, sweetie) is just as good?

LOL.

Seriously, I get the intent of this post and it's sad that our dollar is so lousy. No more trips abroad for me unless I just move.

7. Has the US $ ever been lower than other countries $. Not a history buff,
am sure someone out there knows.

I remember sending $500 to my son who was in England several years ago, He got 350 pounds for it. I nearly had a fit at that time because he "lost" that much money in the transaction.

Just wonder how that same $500 would fare now.

8. It has been lower
but we're the lowest we've been since the 80s (who was President then again, I forget) and trending lower with no one seeming to care about it.

12. wow
I remember traveling to London in 1998 and the exchange rate being ~1.75 pounds to the dollar. My young man just came back from there over the holidays and it was at least reversed (to 1.75 dollars to the pound, sorry, it sounded confusing when I read back over it), if not worse.

13. A week ago, the translation was $1 US to $1.93 UK
I remember when it was $1/$1.50 - a pity as I recently bought a poster. After shipping, net cost to me is $60. Worth it, but still...
