Long Term Outlook - FOX News, Propaganda Indoctrination
Watching "Outfoxed" again reminded me how oppressive and blatant FOX propaganda really is. And I constantly hear the same right-wing talking points echoing back to me from people who think they are "just what really is" and who have no idea of their original source.

It occurred to me that many families in the US have FOX news playing all the time, or all the news they watch is FOX, and children in those families will grow up thoroughly propagandized and indoctrinated.

How do we counter that? How can we best get "propaganda busting" information through to people? Is such a thing even effective, or do only a few "elite" children ever manage to escape the propagandizing of their upbringing?

2. Fox news is so boring and transparent, one has to hope that
eventually their influence will die by boring the audience to switch channels.

6. Quick FOX story here:
I was going to start a thread for this, but this one will do quite nicely.

Holiday travel found me in the airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, awaiting a flight back to the west coast a couple days after Christmas. Once we cleared security (quite a dour bunch, very serious) and hit the gate, we found all the TVs up and down the concourse were blaring (quite audibly over the normal airport background buzz) FAUX news.

At first, I thought it was just the TV I happened onto, but it turned out to be all the tubes in the joint. (Incidentally, this is how I found out that FAUX had 'branded' their tsunami coverage as 'Killer Wave', pronounced with all the emphasis up front, like you'd say 'killer whale')

I went down to the 'Hudson News' franchulet to pick up my usual ration of magazines, and asked the 20ish woman working the till what was up.

Me: So, who gets to decide what's on TV around here, anyway?
Her: FOX news pays us...
Me: Really?
Her: ...so we put it on
Me: Jeezus...
Her: I know.

Sigh.

-AA

P.S. Guess which station was blaring in the Atlanta airport, and what soft drinks were available everyplace?
