Kef's Arrangements: What we know, 1/10/05 5 pm EST
Edited on Mon Jan-10-05 05:20 PM by hippiechick
I just talked with Scott's mom.
She has not confirmed the time with the Masons yet, but tentatively there will be a service at 3:00 pm at

Flanner/Buchanan
325 E. Carmel Drive
Carmel, IN 46032

on Saturday, January 15th, 2005.

She has encouraged as many DU'ers as possible to attend, knowing what a big part of 'the family' we were to Scott.

She also suggested that anyone with ceramic or woodworking talent could please honor Kef's wishes and design a pyramid with 'the eye' on it, as he did say at one time that he wanted to be buried in a pyramid (he will be cremated after the service).

Financial contributions are most welcome, as are flowers.

Anyone with any photos and a color printer, please scan/print and bring them to the service. Unfortunately, I do not have a printer.

KG and Salin suggested someone with artistic talents might want to print out all of the tribute threads and design a sort of scrapbook to present to MamaKef.

She indicated that toxicology tests may not be conclusive for up to 4 months. She's beside herself not knowing for sure what happened.

2. Four months?
http://www.1800autopsy.com/page.html?Id=217

9. How long does it take to get the autopsy report?
Immediately following the procedure the pathologist will call the next-of-kin with a tentative cause of death. The final written report along with microscopic study will be available from four to six weeks.

... she said the toxicology test results could take up to 4 months. Keep in mind, this IS Indiana. They still use leeches and abacus' here.

7. printing photos
hippiechick,

If you have photos you want printed you can use a service like ofoto.com or shutterfly.com. You can upload your photos to them and they'll print them and send them anywhere you want.

8. therein lies the rub ...
... the only photos I know of, of Kef, are the ones from Amaya's thread here over the weekend ... I was hoping other Du'ers would have some from other events and whatnot.

The only one *I* have of him actually only shows half his profile. While it's of his 'greatest moment' (meeting Howard Dean in Indy), it's not a very good pic.

Thanks for the info !

40. There were photos taken at FunDay too.
I know they were posted on the old DU during FunDay, and I think Scott was in those. John (5thGenDem) had those in electronic format at the time--I don't know if he still does.

I'll search the old DU tonight when I am at home.

14. Somebody at the Philly gathering a couple of years ago has a bunch...
LynneSin or Ramsey may know who took/has the pictures (or one of them may have them). LynneSin might also know who's got the pics he's in from the DC gathering a year or so ago. Good luck with the project--I'm sure Mama Kheph will appreciate it. Wish I could help.

9. my best thoughts are all I have to give....
My prayers and best thoughts are with his mother, his family and him in this time of overwhelming grief.

I have nothing else to give except a hug. Maybe someone who attends the service could pass it on for me.

10. Estimated Cost
I don't know of a tactful way to post this but MomaKef was most concerned because the estimated cost is currently at $5,400, and she is significantly short of that.

Anything and everything the DU family can contribute would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

if it's possible that they can 'expand' the 'flower donation' account to cover any donations DU'ers would like to make.

Will wait for an 'official answer'.

23. I donated to the flowers but will donate more if Skinner agrees to collect
If not I will get a donation to her.

MATCOM and those that attended the October event in DC have more Khephra pics and I think Lynnesin has pics too as would Ramsey...I will stick this message in their mailbox.

I don't know what ZenLefty's up to and haven't noticed if he's posted but he is a talented guy where woodworking is concerned,,,who knows? (not trying to volunteer his services...just recalling the special talents of my DU buddies)

Thanks for the updates and thanks for giving Momma Kef moral support during this difficult time.

Sorry I can't get out there to be with you all.

Some of us were talking in the lounge about doing a tribute to Keph at 5thGenDem's FUNDAY in the spring as well. He showed up on the thread and was supportive of the idea

If no one wants to handle it, I'll post an email and then print out and mount them on foamcore...

Rick

I will be attending Scott's service so feel free to PM me for any reason. In the morning we will have more hotel info for anyone interested. The area is the Northside of Indianapolis, Indiana.

27. Repost of initial hotel info
For any Du’er planning to travel to Indianapolis for Kef’s memorial service, here are two hotels in the area that are convenient and reasonable. On Tuesday morning I will call all the hotels in that area and see if we can get a special ‘bulk’ rate and will post the info to this thread.

Both locations are in the shadow of The Pyramids, a business complex near where Scott and Mama Kef once lived… It’s a really cool sight at sunset!

Fairfield Inn $59.00 (also listed for $49.00)

Comfort Inn $44-58.00

but if it would be better to help with the funeral, he'd probably be okay with that if folks asked, I guess.

The donation link is on Skinner's post on front page..if anyone's looking for it.
