24. They would just consider the violence
as "proof" that we need to be in Iraq. It's painfully obvious
after four years of Shrub, that they only see what he tells
them they are seeing.

21. Who is that little boy?
Seriously... how can I find him. If I can, I would like to adopt him.

My ex is Arabic and Muslim. I know the religion. I know the culture. He won't make it over there. The fear in his eyes. I want to adopt this child and give him a better life. I'm not rich, but I'm guessing... oh, this is stupid. I'm a single Mom. No one would let me adopt him.

Tears are rolling down my face. He looks so much like my son. Poor baby.

I don't know what else to say.

32. Absolutely!
They're all gonna be so wacked-out! (Those that survive.) And that doesn't even factor-in all those missing arms and legs, etc. And no jobs awaiting them when they come home...particularly as a Disabled...since ADA protection was long-since dismantled by the Repugs. So that anyone with a Disability in a workplace, essentially does NOT have to be accomodated.

13. I Will Never, EVER...
speak ill of our troops. I was one of them, I bled with them, shed tears on the caskets of too many friends. Sadly, my daughter has done the same thing. I respect them and support them. The mission may be flawed, the CIC is a dumbass, but the troops are not the ones who make policy. They are not there fighting for Bush. Soldiers never fight for their country once they are in combat. They do not fight for their CIC. They fight for each other.

20. my cousin was KILLED in Vietnam....Navy HM3, Silver Star, Purple Heart

19 years old....it really broke my heart when reTHUGlicans degraded John Kerry's Silver Star and Purple Heart....because THAT degradation hit us hard...degraded the whole process, and ALL who recieved those medals, ever....

both my Dad (WWII) and my Uncle (Korea) got Purple Hearts for war injuries, and when they saw the reTHUGlicans prancing around their convention with BANDAID purple hearts, MOCKING all who ever received war injuries, we were SHOCKED !!!!

my nephew is currently in the Marines in Iraq....I often wonder if reTHUGlicans will MOCK his medals too.....

25. My Daughter Was Awarded a Purple Heart...
she had been awarded a Bronze Star (one of very few women to recieve that award) a short time before she was wounded. She pulled two soldiers from a burning vehicle. She and I live with my parents. I was spending so much time here caring for them, I sold my house and moved in. On our mantle are three Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts. One for each generation living in our home. My father's (Korea), Mine (Somalia) and my daughter's (Iraq). Anyone who ever calls my family unpatriotic because of our politics would justifiably be punched in the mouth.

28. I really felt insulted...
when civilians who never served said something about it. I felt that O'Neil was out of line but I felt that since he was there he at least had some justification (misguided though it was). O'Neil was a veteran also. I felt it was beneath him and the other to make their fight with Kerry so public. Kind of like airing dirty family laundry in public. While Kerry was dimished in the eyes of a lot of people over this, O'Neil did not do himself or other vets any favors with his actions.

When I was awarded my Bronze Star, it was for braving enemy fire to drag a wounded Ranger from the open to cover. I was already wounded and so was my best friend. We ran out there together and dragged him back. I was awarded a Bronze Star, my buddy was awarded an Army Comendation Medal with a "V" designation. Lets say that ten years from now I run for office and he had felt slighted at recieving a lesser award for taking part in the same action I did. He would not be right, but in his mind he would feel justified in trying to bismirch my reputation.

O'Neil was wrong with what he did to Kerry. I recognize that he served, faced the same bullets and rockets that Kerry did. I find that just commendable as Kerry's own actions in Vietnam. He was no less a hero. But why did he have to be such an asshole afterwards?:grr:

It's titled "The Children of Iraq"
I managed to scroll down through the wounded children but had to stop when they started showing the dead. I kept seeing my own children. I can hear the rightists saying that those deaths may have been caused by insurgents but whose incompetence allowed that to take place?

Hey neocons, hey Faux News, hey Judith Miller, hey SCLM, hey republicans, hey go-along Democrats, hey to all of you morons who voted to keep this going: have you managed to scrub that blood off your hands yet? Here's some more for you.

Some of the troops had blasts doing that to Iraqis, writing crap in English & taking pics of them holding the signs.

Troops got told to stop doing this; didn't look good when the pics made the UK media.

Here's info on this particular incident;

but human beings are full of defense mechanisms and self-deception. Sometimes, they just need to be slapped in the face with reality, especially when the truth is as unbearably ugly as this! Words alone do not begin to do justice to the images here.

48. Babs Bush Mentality - don't disturb the beautiful CON mind.
Don't mind filling the crapper, just don't want to look at what they produced.

WWII, war journalists/potog's were up close and personnel and had no problems sending back and the papers had no problems with showing the public what was actually happening. It was horrible for 7 & 8 years and on up to look at, but it made us more aware as we walked by a home and viewed a a little flag with a blue star and a little flag with a gold star hanging from a window. It made us more aware that when the air-raid sirens blew and we had to ensure that all the lights were out and the windows darkened that somewhere else in the world children and families were in more danger of actual bombs killing falling and killing them.
