Democratic Members Call for Investigations into Covert Propaganda, Election Day Lines

WASHINGTON DC -- This week, senior Democratic members of Congress asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the legislative branch's investigative arm, to initiate investigations into two matters of concern.

On Tuesday, January 11, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Rep. Waxman, and six other senior Democrats asked GAO to examine the use of covert propaganda by departments and agencies under the Bush Administration in response to recent reports that taxpayer funds have been improperly used to influence public opinion.

On January 12, Rep. Waxman and Rep. John Conyers, Jr. asked GAO to investigate the long lines and excessive waiting times experienced by voters in the 2004 election.

Hasn't he already requested the GAO investigate voting irregularities in Ohio? Or was that request only to investigate computer-related problems?
