SS and Bush. Is this a flip-flop, hypocrisy or lie?
I just can't tell anymore.

BUSH PLEDGES NOT TO TOUCH SOCIAL SECURITY SURPLUS... "We're going to keep the promise of Social Security and keep the government from raiding the Social Security surplus."

I'd say its an outright lie. He's a criminaly insane pathological liar.

1. Are there any Republicans out there who are attacking Bush's Plan
I was thinking if there are, and if they're in any numbers, we should use them to try and stop the neocons.

3. * is just the front man. He is the Mr. Hand to Cheney et al's Mr.Garrison
He really has very little idea what he is saying or what consequences it may have. He admitted as much:

``Sometimes, words have consequences you don't intend them to mean,'' Bush said Thursday.
...
``I can remember getting back to the White House, and Laura said, 'Why did you do that for?' I said, 'Well, it was just an expression that came out. I didn't rehearse it.'

5. Bush already raided the social security surplus
There is no lockbox - He used it for the war in Iraq and his tax breaks. Since he has already spent all they money, there is nothing left to raid. He won't touch the social security surplus because he has already used it all. Bush defintion of truth.

7. In other words, the so-called overhaul
is really a cover-up to conceal the fact that the money is gone?

8. The government, economists and media know the money is gone
It is common knowledge that the surplus is being used to run the government. Al Gore promised to stop and put it in a lockbox - so did Bush. However, Bush has never done it. It is Bush's way to try to mislead the American people into trusting him on social security.

6. He can pledge all he wants
but I don't believe a word of what he says.

This is shaping up just like every other bit of legislation he's promoted. He's out there pushing this "overhaul" but refuses to give any details of the plan he has. They'll throw this legislation out there about 3 hours before it's set to be voted on, so once again the Congress will be forced to vote on something that they haven't even read yet. If Dems don't work their hardest to block this, I'm done.

9. This is WMD 2005
The numbers the Bush cabal quote are 100% BullSh*t. The $10 Trillion number they quote is based on a "infinite horizon," and if you did the same to other departments of the Government, such as Defense, it would be even worst. DoD over an infinite horizon, the deficit would be $20 Trillion, but all these numbers are BS, unless you have some sort of "God-like" knowledge of what the world is going to be like 75 to 100 years from now.

All that really needs to be done, is to make a few small adjustments, like readjusting the top withholding level of the Social Security payroll Tax and maybe a few other tweaks, and it would be fine.

This is another Bush Lie, plain and simple.:grr:

If you want to hear some of the nay sayers (like Clinton Labor secretary Robert Reich), check out PRI's show "Marketplace" at <http://marketplace.publicradio.org/shows/2005/01/12/PM200501123.html>
