Am I the only one who doesn't get it?
why is the inauguration for a sitting president's second term such a big deal? (and not just for the pukes- it was silly the second time around for clinton, too)
isn't kinda like re-financing your house or re-upping on a lease?

when you first buy your house, you probably have a nice party, and invite friends over to celebrate...
how many people make that kind of fuss when they re-finance?

1. I See Both Sides...
Historic... but a little too hyped.

2. I think a better comparison is...
Having the house foreclosed, or filing for bankruptcy, who would want to celebrate THAT!!!

7. Exactly. It's his "In-your-face-Poppy" party
And of course he really likes to rub it in for the people he "defeated" and at the same time make it clear to his fat-cat donors and cronies that he has unlimited power and so they are wise to support him. The ceremonies also give him a chance to give some cheap rewards by allowing big donors to gloat over coveted places at dinners, parades, whatever. After all, he can't make ALL of them "Ambassador to Island Paradise."

4. What I find particularly obscene about this is that American presidents
have historically talked in conciliatory terms after an election, because the unity of America was always considered imperative to our well-being as a country. Then came Bush. Not only has he divided us on past policy decision, but he continues to divide us by letting us know that not only will there be no compromising, but we're just going to have to lump it. So, this Inaugural party isn't for Americans, it's for his Republican voters. And in those terms, it is opulent and arrogant.

6. It's like members of your family died but it's your anny so you throw
a huge, expensive over the top party instead of maintaining some decency. Nobody says don't celebrate your anny but must it flaunt excess while troops and innocent civilians are dying in another country without enough armor to protect them?

10. Weed wants everyone to think that he actually won the most votes?
He wants everyone to know that he has his 'mandate', and besides, his first one was ruined by those 'terrists' throwing eggs and protesting him like he didn't actually win or something.

Since when did the LOSER get the White House?

Oh, never mind, a Weed is involved.
