1. Mine would have to be
"let freedom reign"

supposedly what dubya scribbled on a note to conde when Saddam was captured because he is too stupid to know that the actual phrase is "let freedom ring"

3. "America - love it or leave it."
To me, that is a very fascist attitude (disguised as patriotism) and it pisses me off! The whole point of a Democracy is that people don't have to "love" everything their country does and they have the right to ask questions and make changes.

8. "Freedom on the march"
Today that one pisses me off the most. On other days there are other stupid slogans that make me hurl. Yesterday's hurling slogan was "remember 9-11."

10. A right wing crackpot is...
....someone who thinks Ted Kennedy lacks integrity.

(Hat tip to an old Simpsons episode.)

And, as close second :

"All we have to fear is fear itself..."

11. "The only thing we have to fear"
is an FDR quote.

Wingnuts enjoy and embrace fear.

14. FDR...
...seems to have had a poor opinion of his countrymen. His sentiment suggests that he felt his listeners were cowardly dullards who couldn't face up to the threat of Japanese militarism.

Contrast his ponderous inanity with Chuchill's 1940 speech to the people of beleagured and isolated Britain staring across at all conquering fascism:

"...You ask what is our policy? I will say it is to wage war, by land sea and air with all the might and the strength God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime..."

Don't want to cast aspersions on a great President, but that sound bite of his was pretty limp material.

23. The "...fear itself" quote is from FDR's 1st Inaugural Address
In 1933. It was about the Depression - not Pearl Harbor.

28. ...profuse apologies...
... so sorry. You are quite right. The quote was used by my local paper as an example of US moral indifference/wavering in an article about WW2. I repeated it without checking. I humbly beg readers pardon.

24. "Pretty limp material"?
Fear is why we're in Iraq right now. The cowardly dullard in the White House (who won't show his face but from behind bulletproof glass) prefers to drop bombs from 20K feet rather than use diplomacy, which requires true courage.

12. "Get over it"
No, this is my country, and I will not get over it. I intend to be as big an irritant as I can be over the next four miserable years.

16. You said it! "Get over it," "Live with it," "Deal with it," etc.
I'll get over it (maybe) when we finally throw these criminal right-wing bastards out on their ears, and keep them as far away from power as possible.

Until then, I'll be the sand in the Vaseline.

15. All slogans make me want to puke, pretty much.
Slogans are nothing but political phrases used in place of actual thought. Something for the mindless troglodytes who have nothing to say on their own to parrot.

21. Agreed. I am sick of them treating the deaths of 3,000
of my neighbors like a photo op. And an excuse for a war they wanted to launch for 12 years. And cover to cram all that crap into the Patriot Act.
