Pickles just told a whopper
"The money that is spent on the inaugural is privately raised; it's not government money. I think that is important for people to know."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6847063/

(Painful interview with Campbell Brown)

Hey, how much is Washington D.C. in hole for right now for security costs? Wasn't it twelve million?

Susu thinks that is important for people to know that this inaugural is OBSCENE.

1. It's obscene that private money does it too
They aren't doing it for nothing...a real reporter would have asked what those private parties expect in return..THAT will be funded PUBLICLY.

2. Sounds like one of those...
....selective statements that repukes are sooo good at. They say something that IS true - the event IS funded by private donations.

but they leave out OTHER true statements: that DC is paying out of pocket for the SECURITY at the event.

3. Yep, like there are 125,000 "trained Iraqi troops".......
but leaving out that they are only trained to get a paycheck, if and when they show up....

They also omit the part about the whole lavish event being totally obscene during wartime.

10. and as NSMA pointed out, the "donors" will expect a good back scratching
in return. I just got an image in my mind of Hannibal Lecter hissing "Quid pro quo!"

Welcome to DU WahooJunkie--you are sure right about repuke selective statements. Boy they all got 4.0's in the "Psychopathic Manipulation and Deceit" classes.

5. My message for PICKLES
Just think how many BOOKS that could have bought for the kids that you claim to worry so much about.

Just think how many kids could get medical attention with that money.

Just think how many displaced workers could get retraining with that money.

Just think how many housing units could have been built with that money.

Just think for a change PICKLES! Three hundred POUNDS of Velvetta for you and your clogged artery supporters or Three hundred square meals for families in poverty.

If YOU had had any compassion at all, YOU would have insisted that the "partys" had been fundraisers for the good of the people rather than the bloviation of YOUR personal importance.

PICKLES, there is nothing compassionate about you at all. Not. One. Thing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A4958-2005Jan12.html

"Department of Homeland Security officials gave the District of Columbia government permission Wednesday to use federal homeland security money to pay the costs it will incur for President Bush's second inauguration.

The city's costs for the inauguration, the first since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, are expected ton be at least $17.3 million, city officials said.

The federal government has traditionally reimbursed the city's inauguration costs through a special appropriation. This year, however, federal officials urged the city to use homeland security money it had already been granted."

"Moon Funnels $250,000 To Bush Inauguration

Here is how Rev. Moon, Washington Times owner and self-declared Messiah, manages to appear in the second paragraph of a Washington Post story about huge donations, while remaining almost completely invisible as a major Bush patron. Writes private investigator Larry Zilliox:
The list of donors found at the Bush 2005 Inaugural Committee web site includes a maximum $250,000 donation from the Washington Television Center. http://www.inaugural05.com/donors.

The Washington Television Center is a Unification Movement Closely Associated Entity controlled by Moon through a series of shell and operating companies. This is the name for the office building at 650 Massachusetts Ave., NW in Washington, DC that houses Atlantic Video, Inc. and Nostalgia Network, Inc. also known as GoodLife TV which recently changed its name to AmericanLife TV."
