Tom Hayden, long time peace activist, is talking about his campaign experience in California, the origin of the Campaign for Economic Democracy, and how local chapters of that organization was able to help support progressive candidates. They were successful on local level campaigns, but were having trouble breaking into state level offices. When Tom was finally elected to state office, the organization became more integrated into the Party and ceased to exist.
