Iraq elections will be seen as a success by RW just b/c they
occurred. It won't matter how they go or what happens afterward. They did the same thing in Afghanistan. Election = democracy, details are of no value. I'm really concerned that we could see another talking point about how the RW spreads democracy and they'll just cite elections. How do we counteract that??

1. Easy..
Turnout and security will be everything.
If virtually no Sunni will cast a vote (or, say, less than 10%), which is to be expected, than they will say these where not legitimate elections. The RW might say something like "Too bad, your own fault that you don't have any power now", but it will look very weak when an armed uprising against Allawi's government will start and the entire country slides into civil war, turning the country into an even bigger breeding ground for terrorists.
When this happens the RW can never claim that the war has made the rest of the world safer

2. I Was Going To Post The Same Message.....
no matter what happens in Iraq on election day - *Co will turn it into a victory. No matter what happens!!!!!
The MSM will pick this up and make * a hero. He is well under way to his vision of his legacy. Then on to the other "outcasts of tyranny". There is no stopping them. They got the 'mo' because they take the 'mo'.

And us liberal/progressive/Democrats - we just talk the talk - but won't walk the walk. My biggest disappointment is Joe Biden. I like what he says - but hate what he do's.

One of the reasons the RW/repugs are so successful is that no matter what their beliefs are - they all come together and stick together, vote together - when they need to.

They all march to the same 'talking points' - when they have to.

This is something that we liberal/progressive/Democrats have to learn if we are to be successful going forward. If we continue to be our own persons and don't organize and put out a consistent message - both in words and action - we might as well hang it up.

(I guess I got a liittle off track - sorry).

3. off track or not its true...
but not just our elected officials us as people as well. Perhaps those in office are afraid to unite with other political forces in fear that then they will look too progressive. If we as their constituents can unite and say hey look at how many of us there are that want you to be organized and left wing. maybe they wont have so much fear of losing their job. just a thought.

5. Shrub made a speech not all that long ago where he said
something to the effect of "an election doesn't mean you have a democracy"...he was speaking on how it would take more than elections in Iraq.

I need to find it but I KNOW I heard him say it.

I remember it well because I hooted loudly and said "yeah, just look at America"
